Nick Saban Told Bill Belichick to trade for Wes Welker

I just found this and i just wanted to show it to you guys if you didnt know Nick Saban Called Bill Belichick and told him to trade for Wes Welker at any cost he said that he was the DOlphins Best Player that pretty messed up by Nick Saban i am Glad he isnt with the Dolphins any more

My God does senator Specter know about this? :D

Seriously someone in the Miami Dolphins organization must have severely pissed off Saban. He was right though.

Ya I guess the Coffee girl forgot his little debbies once to often...such a high character guy that Saban fella...no wonder he and bellicheat are buddies..peas in a pod.
 
I had heard this last season.

Saban and Belichick are good friends, and both CROATIAN! So now that they aren't bitter on the field enemies they share some info with each other. Ended up working out for the Pats. But i think everybody on the planet knew Wes was a heck of a player provided he plays with other offensive weapons. Great line, great QB, two other solid receivers drawing away coverage. Wes has great hands and speed, runs good routes and can take hits, what more can you ask he's a perfect 2 or 3 receiver in that offense.

He also is a pretty decent blocker too.
 
If he didn't do it when he was coaching here, what's the issue? They are friends, he obviously knew who was special being a coach here for 2 years. Whats the problem?

Here is something that hasn't been said yet too, that is most likely true. Bill called Saban and asked about Sammy Morris too.
 
Coaches talk all the time. As coaches change jobs they bring info along with them. I have no problem with a former coach telling another coach who the best player on the team is. Saban had nothing to do with the trade. The fins could have kept welker but chose not to.

Not true in a sense. Sure they could've denied the trade but then the Pats were going to put a poison pill in his contract offer. The whole thing would've been guaranteed. Instead the Pats offered up an extra 7th rd pick and were able to sign Welker to a cheaper contract.
 
Uh, last I remember, it wasn't a trade. Welker was tendered. New England signed an offer sheet, we didn't match because we had so many needs and New England was signing him for like 30 mill, but to lower the salary on that offer sheet, we asked for another 7th.

It was no trade.

You spend money on players like him if you believe you are a player or two away from a championship. Welker was an excellent roleplayer in the Patriot's offense, he's not worth 30 million though on a rebuilding team like Miami, and definitely wasn't going to make us any better.
 
It was a trade. We tendered him at a 2nd round pick, he talked to the Pats and then we worked out a trade for a 2nd and 7th. This avoided the whole poison pill thing noted previously. It started as a tender and offer sheet thing, then changed to a straight up trade...

The Patriots were prepared to sign Welker to an offer sheet that included a "poison pill" that would make it difficult for the Dolphins to match. Yet in hopes of avoiding the bad blood that sometimes can accompany offer sheets - the Seahawks and Vikings recently engaged in a nasty back and forth with offensive lineman Steve Hutchinson and receiver Nate Burleson exchanging teams via offer sheets - the Patriots instead called the Dolphins and proposed a trade.
The Dolphins were amenable, shipping Welker to the Patriots for second- and seventh-round draft choices.

As much as I want to see Welker get jacked up, he will do just as well as the No. 2 or No.3 without Moss. Lets face it, the guy knows how to beat coverage, run tight routes right to the sticks, and make the clutch catch. He is def. good, and when exposed, people will realize that ultimately, the guy can play football.

He's a GOOD WR but his great Rec total this year was thanks to Moss and others. He always had a mismatch b/c he was way donw the lone in terms of worries for the DC. W/o Moss commanding those double and triple teams he'll struggle alot more.
