Buy low! - as in what you are told to do when picking stocks. basically, if you view the cap money as your personal money to invest in the stock market what would you do? Overpay for big name stocks that have already peaked, or go after the cheap ones that have potential to get better and diversify your risk with the possibility of one of those low priced stocks booming in return??? LJ Shelton, Will Allen, Sedrick Hodge, Renaldo Hill, Andre Goodman...all guys who have either potential and are coming cheap. If one or two of these guys brings the game that their potential talent can bring, they would be a steal at their price. I wouldn't mind having Nick as my Financial Advisor. (yeah yeah, I am a finance nerd, i contribute in the way i can)

Guys, it's still EARLY in free-agency and Nick is far from desperate. He's just biding his time waiting for other teams to drop guys that are bargains and have big upsides.

By the time Free Agency is over, we'll have a better stocked roster.

Nick knows what he's doing and he's not about to overspend and and blow his load early on.

Dont forget the preseason will add some very good talent to our roster as well:cooldude:

There's a difference though: I can put as many low priced stocks as I want to in my portfolio, I don't have a roster limit; if a cheap stock doesn't perform, I can get rid of it tomorrow and replace it. Or not replace it; and as a stock trader, I'm not locked into a rewards system that peaks in December and January, where the winner takes all and the losers pick up the pieces to begin again next season.
What Saban is doing is trying to get the best talent he can afford at the best price possible. I loved his 'condo' analogy, that it's no use buying a condo on the beach if the mortgage is so high you can't afford furniture! In the end, we can't just take any old players that are out there, sign them, and hope they perform. Saban has a short list of players that he believes will succeed, and a shorter list of players that he believes will succeed that we can afford. Brees made the first list, but got cut from the second list. Saban was actually the one who started the whole QB and draft pick shuffle by shifting to Daunte after he refused to let Brees's agent bankrupt the team.
This offseason has been great, contrast this to the Wanny offseasons which were full of negative surprises. Now, we are able to sign players because they want to be here and are willing to cut a deal.

I think this off-season has been great too. thanks for your input. I love the fact that we are signing players who want to play for us, and are not just looking to play for the highest bidder.
