So far I have seen the Fins run out the clock two times with over forty seconds left in the first half ... They did it verse the Jets with 49 seconds left and yesterday verse the Panthers with 46 seconds left. Is Saban not confident in trying to air it out to try for a quick score before half time? I know Marino could score twice with that much time. Somebody has to get this question to Saban. Pleeeeeeease I just have to know ...

Just talked to Saban, he said we may not have scored in those 50 seconds, but we didn't turn it over and let the other team score... and also, we're 2-1 and tied for first.

have a nice day

On the Nick Saban show, Nick basically said when we are pinned that far back on our side of the field... To throw a ball with the game tight would be high risk...

He said if we broke a big run, we might go into a hurry up offense... But if you throw the ball you risk a INT that could result in a score the other way...

made sense to me.

I cant stand when coaches do that ****. To me it seems like a waste of a good possession. Teams go down the field with less time then that all the time at the end of the game. Football is a game decided by inches and often times little points so why not take every chance to try to score. If we would have lost at the end with no time left on a field goal like it was looking like was gonna happen. We would have loved to have those 46 seconds. If there is time on the clock you should not quit whether at the end of the game or end of the half. Simply doesnt make any sense in the overall view of things.

Yes, Let's turn the ball over and let them score right before the half and get the ball back again after halftime. If that were to happen you guys would want Saban crucified.

Gus is not Dan

That is basically all that needs to be said. If Marino were here, we wouldn't be running the clock out with 40 seconds. It's smart if your quarterback is Frerotte, it's not if it's Dan. We are in a new era.

I think he did go into detail with this in one press conference when the media asked after the last game. He related a story about how he had a bad experience with Michigan State when they were trying to score at the end of the half and it turned around and went the other way and changed the momentum of the game. I think he said something like the risk wasn't worth it, he would rather go in at half time with the lead or down a little than after having given up a big play the other way.

He probably does not want to risk a momentum changing turnover. After what we saw last season, I agree with him. How many times did an INT get returned for a TD or give the other team a chance to score. Let's just be content that we have a coach who thinks and has got this team playing good again.

Saying Gus is not dan is just idiotic. Every qb from the pee wee level on up has been taught how to perform in a 2 minute or under drill. It doesnt matter if they are a legend or a beginner they should be given the chance to get there team into scoring position on every possession of the game. Whether there are 20 seconds or 8 minutes it is still a scoring opportunity and should be treated as one.
