What netted Oakland 4 comp picks? Can't remember them losing anyone
Didnt we strategize to get some last offseason? How do we never get comp picks?

The formula basically works if a team's pending free agents sign big deals elsewhere and if that team doesn't make any large FA signings.
The year Miami got picks was when Lamar Miller went to Houston, OV signed that huge contract with the Giants, and Rishard Matthews signed with Tennessee. If a team cuts a player before their contract is up, any team can sign that player without being penalized in terms of compensatory picks. It only counts for players whose contracts finished in entirety.
Say Miami let Landry sign somewhere else and he got a huge contract, as long as Miami didn't make an equally large signing in terms of money, they would theoretically net a compensatory pick for it.
