No compensatory picks for Miami

Little confused as to how they evaluate these picks.

For instance if Manning leads the Broncos to a SB this season, what would Indy recieve the next season as a compensatory pick? A 1st rounder?

Granted Manning was released, but lets say it happens with Brees next season. Can you be given a pick that high?

Indy gets no compensatory picks for Manning.

Picks are loss of free agents with expiring contracts only, trades/cuts do NOT net a compensatory pick.

Highest compensatory pick available is at the end of round 3.

There are a lot of factors that determine compensatory picks. First off, you need to lose more free agents then you signed. However, not all free agents are a part of the formula. A player that you release or a player that was released from another team that you sign do not count. Traded players don't count. Also, the contract values and the playing time of the players matters.

I said we wouldn't get any compensatory picks this year but I was shot down.
