DirecTV was pretty much the dealbreaker for a lot of people wanting the Sunday Ticket. Now, broadband and a PS3 will allow you to skirt DirecTV altogether.

Watch Every Football Game with Sunday NFL Ticket On Your PS3

Xbox 360 users might have their fancy ESPN but the only sport most people care about is football. Sony just announced that PS3 users can sign up for NFL Sunday Ticket (a DirecTV exclusive) even if they don't have DirecTV. That means you can watch every NFL game straight from your PS3.
Here's how it works: If you're a PS3 owner but a non-DirecTV subscriber you can pay $340 for the entire Sunday Ticket package which includes every game in HD and the Red Zone channel. Before you scream expensive, that's about how much DirecTV customers pay for the Sunday Ticket package right now. If you're a PS3 owner and a DirecTV subscriber (who already subscribes to NFL Sunday Ticket) then it's an additional 50 bucks to use the PS3 as an additional receiver in your home (a little unnecessary if you ask me).
Basically, if you're a football fan who doesn't have DirecTV, this is what you've been waiting for. [Sony]

last year they allowed people to stream if they were unable to get directv at their house. I was going to use this to my advantage this year as a friend of mine has strict HOA laws that forbid them from putting up a sat dish.

This allows me to get the ticket without even doing that, and without the frankenstein hookup I use now to get my computer feed on my tv. sounds like a plan. this is great news.

Again... they will only allow you to do that if you cannot get a dish at your residence. It doesnt matter how you watch the games.. PC, PS3, XBOX, etc... you have to prove you cannot recieve the DTV service.

False, it's a DirecTV partnership. Which means that DirecTV is likely taking a cut.

Sure.

Like DTV is going to allow all of us to drop their subscription service and just buy ST through a 3rd party and DTV only gets a part of the profit..

me thinks not...

While they have exclusive rights.... they are going to push their service.

Allowing others access to ST is just a way for them to make an extra buck on those that cannot recieve their subscription service.

this is from the press release:

New this year, both current DIRECTV NFL SUNDAY TICKET customers and fans who can't get DIRECTV will have the option of watching their favorite team play every Sunday on TV through the PlayStation® 3 computer entertainment system.

so, yes, you need to prove you can't get sunday ticket. however, last year, that was as simple as 2 checkboxes on the website.

I live in a condo complex, and we had to get rid of Directv because the dish could only be in 1 place and the trees were blocking the reception, and we switched to Optimum cable. So needless to say, I just went from 6 to midnight.

hmm can anyone please keep me updated on exactly what is required to "PROVE" you cant get DirectTV? Like can anyone once they start this subscription PM me to let me know if its as simple as just checking a few boxes? Thank you in advance

Yes, I would like to know also. I was just having this convo last night with my gf about wanting the Sunday Ticket but neither one of us wanted Direct TV. So if being able to watch it through the Playstation is possible I'll do it.

So a movie costs over a 100 million to make and you can get a copy for 20 bucks, these games are already broadcast locally, but you can get access for $340.

it seems directv took their order form down, probably to revamp it with the new playstation info. I went through the process a few months ago just to see what it did. you had to check a box that you've never had directv at your current residence, and the other box said that you were unable to get it at your residence (bad view of southern sky, hoa restrictions etc)

It was a hard link to find because in the FAQ it says, if you don't have directv you can't get sunday ticket, you had to look around to find all the info.

Ok... so I've been a DirecTV suscriber for over 7 years... and have moved to an apartment where I can 'not' get DirecTV installed. So I have "XBOX360"... am I sht out of luck... or are you saying an 'non'-PS3, non-DirecTV suscriber 'can' still get the Sunday Ticket with Xfinity Cable and XBOX360?
