Attorney's for some of the 46 players tested said the results came back with no matches. They also are saying they have time-stamped photographs that show the accuser was already injured and impaired.

Too bad the season has already been canceled and the coach has resigned.

Well, yes and no. I was one to jump on them for this and I was wrong about the rape, I'm man enough to admit when wrong. But that program has been having tons of problems. Public drinking, public peeing! And they were still at this strip thing a ma chig.

The coach had to go and changes had to be made.

It's just a shame that a few bad eggs ruined it for the rest.

So why did the coach have to go?? was he at the party, did he condone any of the actions, is it his responsibility to babysit? is it "standard policy" that if there is any scandel, even if proven untrue, that the coach must go asap?

This has been going on for a while, not just this thing. And yes, if things like this keep going on, the coach is the first to go.

And yes, as a head coach, you do baby-sit at this level, not saying its fair, but it's the fact.

Noone knows anything yet....this was just the player's attorneys firing their first salvo. The players will still be charged. Some may be worse than others, but they were all there and hence are all culpable. The thing that people are more pissed off about is the racial overtones. Rich white kids beating up on a poor black.

Sounds like a witch hunt. I know how my alma mater (the Univ. of Colorado) got tarred and feathered by a few bad apples, and I know charges of racism and "elitism" among the athletes permeates the campus at Duke, but I can't buy the charges against the Duke team at this point. Crying "rape" is a very serious accusation, and the evidence doesn't point to this.

Unfortunately, the report of no DNA being found on the victim wasn't nearly as loudly broadcast as the initial accusation of rape. Whether these kids are convicted in a court of law (and that looks pretty unlikely at this point), they've already been judged in the court of public opinion.

The prosecutor in this case, Mike Nifong, is already grandstanding shamelessly. He's holding a "campus forum" (translation: a Duke hate-fest that makes a UNC crowd look friendly by comparison) at the university where the victim goes to school. He's already proclaimed that this case isn't over by a long shot. Okay, so let me get this straight: 46 guys were tested and there's not one strand of DNA on this woman they allegedly beat and raped? What were they wearing, full body condoms?

What a jerk. I'm going to send a contribution to his opponent the next time Nifong's up for election.
