NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 11, 2005) -- Former Heisman Trophy winner Jason White ended his professional career, citing his weak knees.

White, who had been competing for third quarterback with the Tennessee Titans, said he has the head and heart to play in the NFL. He doesn't have the knees.

THIS KID ONE THE HEISMAN IN 2003 AND YET HE IS OUT OF FOOTBALL. I GUESS NOTHING IS GAURANTEED IN FOOTBALL.

He WON the Heisman.

Who didn't see this coming. A better example is Charlie Ward who won the award and then never played another snap of footall.

Guess there aren't any *gaurantees* in spelling either.

just kidding

Yeah but Ward played and started in the NBA. Can;t compare. Compare him with Torreta or ssomeone like that.

Just like Oklahomas last qb that won the Heisman the Dolphins drafted him in the 7th round and he couldnt even beat out Fiedler or any of our qbs for that matter. Just goes to show that Oklahoma qbs are overrated and should have never won heisman is the first place

That's because White can thank his teammates. To this day it still boggles my mind how him and Couch win the heisman with such better football players behind them on the 5 man finalist list. White's throwing motion and arm were a disaster for a player who would have played his #1 college opponent's talent level, or MORE, EVERY WEEK in the NFL.

Josh Heupel (sp? - bad thread for spelling!!) never won the Heisman.

And just because a player doesn't have the tools for the NFL, doesn't mean that they didn't deserve the Heisman. He had a remarkable year and a collection of past winners and sports writers who are likely a lot more knowledgeable than you or I on the college game determined that he was the best player in the country that year.

I think the fact that Heupel went in the 7th round and White went undrafted goes to show that Oklahoma QB's are NOT overrated by NFL scouts and GM's and are taken for what they are, borderline NFL talents.

Tim COUCH never won a Heisman either.

Did you maybe mean Eric CROUCH?
