No heat on Zgonina?

A little something I have noticed and held my tongue on since the Christmas loss was that Jeff Zgonina got juked out of his damn pads by Leon Washington or just displayed some piss poor attempt at tackling and has yet to get any heat.


Anyone else notice this?

I noticed it but i was just keeping it to myself. I called him some mean names after that play because i thought he was gonna make the tackle.

a lot of ppl are going to leave after teh seasons end. finally no more half assers on this team :)

You can say some things about Jeff. He is undersized, not strong enough, not big enough, not athletic enough, but you can't say he doesn't give 100 percent. Guys a warrior. He's just getting old.

EXACTLY. Any team counting on having a DT tackle a guy like Washington in open space has a flawed system. LB's or Safety's must make that tackle. Of course that doesn't mean we can't upgrade the DT position as we do need more depth there.

Zgonina is undersized and too darn old. He needs to be one of the first players released after this season. I can't see how he has stuck around as long as he has. He is consistantly blown off the ball by opposing o-linemen.

Two DB's ran into each other an whiffed on that play too. Jeff will be gone b/c his contract is up. That should drop the teams age a bit.

It was actually pretty good hustle from Zgonina that he had a chance to make a tackle downfield on a pass play.

Jeff Zgonina's about done here, though. He's a solid, hard-working guy with alot of versatility and experience, but he is pretty clearly declined since last year.

I saw it too and cursed his damn name. But just like a previous poster said I kept it to myself. I have been wondering all season why they dont let a young guy play in his spot. I am no longer convinced that Saban plays the best players. Eg. Harrington, Tillman.

People don't expect much from Jeff Zgonina.
