I really liked the no huddle O when we ran it with Daunte in preseason. He seems to love that - he gets in a zone and has time to make adjustments at the line. Think we will run this early? I think it may get Pitt off balance a bit but it would sure give CPep some time at the line to see the coverages. I don't see us driving through Pitt with a standard package - their D is too good but I could see us changing things up with this style.

I totally agree Rich .. What the fins should do is run a no-huddle to start the game. In preseason Culpepper looked extremely comfortable running the no huddle.

This allows Culpepper plenty of time to see the complex steeler coverages at the line.. It also allows Miami to throw Pitt off balance.. I would start the game with quick passes like slants, screen passes and hitches.. Give culpepper short step drops and let the talented receivers like McMichael, Brown, Chambers and Booker get the yards after the catch .

I would make pitt run alot early from sideline to sideline and make play calls going from one side of the field to the other.. For instance, run a hitch to the left, then a screen pass to the right to Ronnie Brown to make their defense tired .. We have a Big offensive line and I think our O-Line can run block better later in the game when their defense is a little winded.. We can plow em with our size when their speed is a little off because they'll be tired from the no-huddle fast paced game and the quick passes..

Culpepper is a rhythm QB which is why the no huddle suits him so well.. C-pep will be in a rhythm early and that's what we want as an offense with a new ultra-talented QB under center.

This gameplan will beat the steeler defense IMO. We have a QB who is extremely good at the quick passes.. We have the receiving corps, TE and RB to make good gains after the catch, and we have an O-line that is one of the biggest in the NFL and can mow that defense down after they are tired on defense ..

Set up the no huddle quick pass game to later set up the run .. Beat the steelers at their own game as the steelers led the league in 2nd half rushing attempts last season because they throw teams off by passing early when other teams expect the run .. Then run teams down later in the 2nd half to run out the clock because other teams are tired at that point.

Get with it Saban and Mularkey.

And to answer that other poster who said our O-line will get tired with a no huddle.. Thats not true.. Its much easier to pass block for a 3 step drop than it is to run block.. Run blocking takes ALOT of energy out of an offensive lineman compared to quick pass pass blocking.. I was an o-lineman and I know .

Well, that's what I'd do if I had the power. I didn't say 100% it would work, LOL !

With that said, I think it's the best gameplan because it doesn't put alot of pressure on our offensive line early on (forgot to mention that point earlier) . PLUS, it will give our O-line confidence with the run blocking later in the game when they see Ronnie run for 6 yard gains because the steeler defense will be weaker and winded from chasing so much, and the confused feeling they will have from our no huddle quick passing attack to boot.

This kind of confidence can transcend the o-line and make them better quicker this season IMO .

Then after running on em, hit em with a deep pass to Chambers on a play action fake to seal the game.. Pitt won't know what hit em . DoNE ! ! !

Yea that might not be the best idea, considering the experience of the offensive line. I say we stay patient with the run game and wear down their D with our huge offensive line. Initially we might not be successful running the football, but we must stay patient with it to open up the vertical game. Look for our D to be solid tonight, I'm sure you all seen the article regarding the preparation that was done for this game. Believe it!!!! Go Phins.

I don't think we wear down the Pitt D by running it straight at them. Too physical and fast. They return 9 of 11 starters on D that won the SB for a reason. They can carry that team through a whole game. We have to shake them up with something like a no huddle so they can't substitute or to give us enough time at the line to really get a handle on their coverage to audible around. If we go run 1st and 2nd down and throw 3rd we are going to score less than 10 points.
One problem I see is C-Pep is going to be so hyped up to play he maybe be overthrowing early or he may just throw a ball through someone's chest. I think he is going to be on a mission to prove folks wrong for what happened last year. I just hope he doesn't try to do too much too fast.
I think our wildcard for the game is McMike. He needs to have a big game. Pitt will stack the line and bring their safeties up alot so we need McMike to be able to expose the middle of the field. Quick slants and the TE up the gut IMO is the answer for big plays. Can't Wait!!

I like the no huddle but we had 1 play in the preseason where the D was running off to change and Culpepper did not snap the ball to get the penalty the way the Colts do it all the time

The no huddle can almost always throw the defense off if used in the right situations. I love seeing the no huddle ran right in the middle of a quarter, when the defense is in their base and are not expecting it. Once you get the matchups in your favor, run the no huddle until they are forced to call a time out. Then come back and do it again at a later point in the game, and at the worse you will almost always be able to cause the defense to burn more timeouts. Managing the game like that and getting the advantage in little things like timeouts, can play heavily into your favor at the end the half and in the 4th quarter.

Would love to see Miami run some no huddle offense tonight at some points in the game.

it worked for us last year, id say it could be a strong possibility we will see it
