No interest in trading Williams

Ricky Williams isn't for sale, and the Dolphins don't appear interested in anything that's available in trade.
With the NFL trade deadline Tuesday, a team source indicated the Dolphins have not even discussed trading Williams, who was active Sunday for the first time this season and for the first time since 2003. Williams also started the game.
There has been speculation that Williams would be dealt, but the Dolphins have not considered it because they would rather have Williams this season and because they don't believe they would get adequate value for him in return anyway.
As for other players who have been available, the team has no interest in San Diego guard Toniu Fonoti or Dallas receiver Peerless Price.
Fonoti was coached by Miami offensive line coach Hudson Houck last season with the Chargers.
But he is a free agent at the end of the season, which would compel his new team to sign him to a new contract before trading for him to get maximum value.
Fonoti, nursing a broken arm, is also considered a difficult player to handle.
The Dolphins had expressed interest in Price when he was cut in August by Atlanta. He had a workout with the Dolphins and was offered a contract. But Price signed with the Cowboys, who gave him a $500,000 signing bonus.
As for the trade the Dolphins made Tuesday to send running back Jesse Chatman to New Orleans, the Dolphins will get a seventh-round pick from the Saints if Chatman rushes for 300 yards this season.
NO EXCUSES
Jason Taylor left Sunday's game with a foot injury, and although he returned to the game, it affected his play.
''Obviously, it was different than my normal role in the game,'' Taylor said. ``I'm not going to stand here and make excuses and cry about it. The foot hurt, yeah. It did affect my game, but still, you've got to fight through things try to make things happen for your team.''
Taylor was the last man chasing Michael Pittman on a 57-yard touchdown run. Would Taylor have caught Pittman if not for the injury?
''Absolutely,'' Taylor said.
THIS AND THAT
• The four sacks allowed by the Miami offensive line were a season high.
• Olindo Mare's 53-yard field goal in the third quarter was the 200th of his career during the regular season. It also tied for the second-longest of his career, trailing only a 54-yarder against Philadelphia in 1999.
• Linebacker Junior Seau (lingering pain in left calf) was inactive. Also inactive: cornerback Eddie Jackson, linebacker Eddie Moore, guard Joe Berger, defensive tackle Manny Wright, offensive tackle Anthony Alabi, receiver Cliff Russell and quarterback A.J. Feeley.
• Linebacker Zach Thomas has a theory about Miami's road woes: They always lose the coin flip.
In three road games, Miami has lost the flip each time.
''They always want me to call heads, because the heavy part of the coin is the head,'' Thomas said. ``But I want to call tails.''
