If we don't land Peyton Manning who's Ross going to bring in to win games, excite the fan base and sell tickets? Flynn would be an improvement at QB but won't be the marquee player to get everyone excited.

Is it possible we could be going after a big name defensive player like Mario Williams to fill the marquee? His first year salary could be managed within what we paid Soliai last year. He's a great fit for our new 4-3 defense and could have the same impact for us that Peppers had in Chicago.

Most importantly, he would be the guy that would sell tickets, the stadium was lame last year. Ross was there...

Not sure we would have the cap money for it... but to be honest I like this scenario better than manning. Imagine if somehow we could get flynn +williams and then use our 1st round pick on another need. IMO I would seriously consider taking yet another defensive piece if we got those two... maybe clairborne could somehow fall to us or take kuechly at #8 and we are looking like a top 5 defense.

We have somewhere between $15-20 million in cap space. If they sign Flynn, half of that space would likely go to him. It would be either Flynn or Williams. Not both.

in that case, ill take williams.

flynn is not an upgrade, the only upgrade we can realistically get is manning.

If you look at the contracts that were signed by Kevin Kolb and Julius Peppers, two contracts often referenced as baselines for Flynn and Williams, they could both be worked out to fit within our cap room.

I like Mario Williams a lot, but his body of work doesn't come close to justifying his expected contract amounts.

He just isn't worth that much money. He isn't even elite!

He isn't in the same class with guys like Jarod Allen,DeMarcus Ware, or even Tamba Hali or Terrell Suggs.

His production is just above average for a teams chief pass rusher.

A better value could be Jeremy Mincey, who just keeps getting better, and a high draft pick.

How about if Philbin feels Flynn is the guy then you go out and make a huge splash signing Vincent Jackson. I do not care what anyone says, BMarsh lined up opposite Vincent Jackson with Bess in the middle would make D coordinators **** their pants on game day, regardless of who is throwing the ball.

twitter.com/nyjetscap is reporting u guys have 11mil in cap idk how u can do that
