No matter what it will be a gamble. Flynn or Manning

I know this has been talked about alot but their are some who say we want Payton because Flynn is unproven and some that say we want Flynn because Payton is not healthy. Everyone who is saying they want Payton say "I would take him if he is healthy" the problem is you will need to make a decision before he is fully healthy. With Flynn we only had a sample size of what he can do (That sample size did look good). Either way we will be gambling on one of them.

I would take my chances with the guy who has alot of career left. If he is the guy, we will have hime for a long time. If we take Payton and he is healthy we have him for not that long.

I know that these are not the only 2 QB options, just the two most debated about.

Imo it is a way bigger gamble with flynn. Atleast we know with peyton we get a proven winner and one of the goat. Yea there is still risk, but I would risk way more for peyton

No doubt it's a major gamble choosing between the two quarterbacks. If the QB they choose works out the front office will get lots of credit, if it doesn't it means years of blame.

Manning is superbowl MVP, league MVP, a legend.

Who would you rather have, a healthy Peyton Manning or a healthy Matt Flynn? I dont even know why im asking that question.

Flynn is goina demand a lot of money. If he doesnt work out, we look dumb as hell again (AJ Feeley part 2) but no one can blame us for signing Manning if he doesnt work out because he is Peyton freakin Manning, at least we tried to sign the man who can take us to the super bowl.

Also if we sign Manning, more than likely we will draft a QB fairly early in the draft and that young QB can learn from the best. If we sign Flynn, he's our guy, we might draft a no namer in the later rounds or sign another UDFA like Devlin. And more than likely that young QB will not develop into much.

Manning gives us hope for now and for our future. When I say future I mean the young QB who learns from Manning (some one with some real upside like Tannehill or Brock Osweiler)

I don't see Flynn getting a ton of money in the free agents market....teams are not convinced Flynn can be THE guy....I think we should still go after him for a decent price.....say 6-7 mil per year and still draft Tannehill in the first....Tannehill is not ready to start and needs at least 2 years....Miami has not had a QB in over 10 years, let's double down.....another OP had the right idea but he wants Manning.....I'd rather have Flynn....hey if Flynn works out you can always trade Tannehill....

Last report I saw, he couldn't throw 20 yards. So if you are taking him, you are projecting his ability in the future, just like you would project unknown/unproven qbs ability in the future. The difference is, Manning's future is shorter. If all goes well, you have him for 2, maybe 3 years tops. Then guess what? Right back in the same boat!

True that Matt Flynn has a small sample size. But he's played well in 2 more NFL games than Luck, RG3, or Tannehill. In fact, he's the only viable prospect that has played in an NFL game this past season - you have more recent relevant objective data on him than anyone else!

They are all gambles, but I'd gamble on the ones with a longer potential result. If we got Flynn, kept Moore, and traded back and drafted Tannehill, that maximizes your chance of having your long term solution on the roster.

I'd be all for signing Flynn AND drafting a QB fairly early like Tannehill, weeden, or Osweiler. But I just dont see it happening if we sign Flynn. Wanting and getting are 2 different things - if we don't get overeager, we should be able to set the price for him. Who's going to want to pay more than his former coach said he was worth?

I hate to say it, but I really think Manning is done. Love the guy, one of my favorite non-Dolphin players ever, but there's a time when your personal long-term health has to be #1. Flynn's risk is whether or not he is a franchise quarterback. He actually remind me of Joe Theisman, I know an old school comparison. But he has a very similar skill set. Theisman wasn't a franchise qb, but he was pretty close and led one of the better offenses I have seen over the last 30 years. I'd take Flynn and build around him. It would open everything else up in the draft and could make Miami a winner very quickly maybe even this season.

Flynn is the bigger gamble. Does anyone really think there's a better chance that Matt Flynn becomes a franchise QB than there is that he becomes a very expensive Matt Moore? I think you're kidding yourself if you think that there is. I go all in with Peyton Manning as long as it's a fair deal contingent on him being able to play. If we get him and he returns to health the 2012 Dolphins have a top 5 HOF QB. If he can't go we stick with Moore, a QB who went 6-3 over his last 9 games and gets paid a measly 3 million bucks. With this route we would have enough money to get a new QB next year. If we back up the Brinks truck for Flynn we are married to him for better or for worse for at least a long enough period to give him a fair chance. If he ends up being Moore, or slightly better which again there's a good chance of, it's an epic fail. Get Manning, hope he's healthy and enjoy the best QB play we've seen since #13 called it a career, that's what I'm hoping for.

I look at it this way, if Manning fails we lose 2012 but if Flynn fails we likely lose 3 or 4 years and this regime fails. For the record I do understand that Flynn coming in and becoming our franchise QB is the very best case scenario, just think that's unlikely. Remember, for every late round pick superstar like Tom Brady there are thousands of guys we have all forgotten about.
