Good Cote column on how ruthlessly pragmatic the new FO and TS are and how Jay's departure just adds to an already instilled culture of a healthy fear where no one can rest on past laurels or is necessarily safe (be interesting to see how this ends up motivating Porter).

Egos surely bruised. So be it. This is a team under heavy construction. Men at work and hard hats required. This is a no-coddling zone.
''We're kind of out of the [not] hurting people's feelings business right now,'' as Sparano put it.
``We're getting into the real deal here.''

I wonder about that as well. I would hope that Porter is motivated enough to play well in a scheme that he's familier with. However, a part of me thinks that guys like Porter and Holliday will pretty much be dogging it throughout the season, and just go half speed. I hope they don't, I would like to think they're a little more professional than that. However, I wouldn't put it past them.
