No need to panic re: o-line..

We'd be unstoppable and would go undefeated every year for the rest of his career

Ha that would be insane! Barring the conceivability of this I doubt we'd be able to keep this team under the cap. Haha. I can dream though!

Honestly this O-line situation is my (and probably most fans and the teams) biggest concern this coming season. If we get this addressed somehow then I don't see too many glaring problems with what we have on offense.

If O'Hara is in the cards, I think you sign him immediately. Get him one preseason game to get his feet wet.

What do you do with Pouncey then? Its too late to start him at a new position on the line. He would have to sit behind Ohara, for a year, which also may not be such a bad idea, learning from a potential hall of fame center

It would certainly may the team better. From the receivers to the runningbacks to the TE's to the QB.

I will ask u would u give up any player that is good for a dissapointing dlineman and a player like allen who has been injured and seems to have regressed. Why would any team do that

Don't really disagree, but I don't think trading a backup DL for a backup OL is unreasonable. And probably better than our current waiver wire fix for RT.

For those who want to send Carey back to RT, if he can't move fast enough to play at G, HTF is he going to protect at RT? Man, does he look like he does not really care. Murtha... but he needs snaps there (RT).

Murtha is a penalty machine, but at least he give a lot of effort. Hopefully he can improve his game with more snaps.
Pouncey is playing his heart out, but I think it is a little bit naive to think he can tangle with the Vince Wilforks and come out on top. He needs to be brought along gradually. That is why the OHara signing (or another decent center) is so important IMHO.
Garner can fill any spot on the oline. I can actually see him playing right guard or right tackle on opening day if we cannot upgrade.
He could also play center if Pouncey starts to struggle.
We need to scour the waiver wire and bring in some more veteran big bodied guards and centers.
Berger is undersized and gets handled to easily, IMHO he gets cut.

I honestly do not see the Dolphins entering the Patriots game with Long-Incognito-Pouncey-Carey-Colombo as the starting offensive line. I think one if not two adjustments will be made. I would not mess with Long at LT, Incognito at LG and Pouncey at C. I would consider moving Carey back to RT and bringing in someone like Shaun O'hara, Brian Waters, Leonard Davis or Andre Gurode to be the RG.

The line is a concern, but I don't think it is a disaster or not fixable. It is late in the game and not ideal, but there is still time to at least try and fix the problems.

This! Excatly what I've been saying all camp long....why not bring O'Hara in to play guard and move Carey back to RT....the problem is we've been wasting all this time having Carey try and adjust to RG and he seems to slow and old to play tackle....this needs to be fixed and fixed quick.

neither player brings a starting OL in trade at this point. I mean really who trades a starting Olineman for a dissapointing DE or a possibly cut coming off of injury cb that is getting up there in age.

I think the league knows that Phillip Merling has the goods, despite his off the field troubles. He just happens to play a stud-packed position for us. You're probably right about Will Allen. And the league knows we have a plethora of defensive lineman and cornerbacks, all talented, tough, and solid. I'd hate to see a guy like Nolan Carroll or Benny Sapp go, but if it brings a starting tackle that is competent (not great) and who Jeff Ireland and Sparano see meshing with the dudes we have, pull that trigger. Depth is great, but I have to believe someone has the same issues we have at defensive line and cornerback, with their offensive line.

Murtha is trying to play LT against each team's best pass rusher. Look at the list of players he has been against.

That said, this OL is in trouble and can kill this team. Right now we are not even a .500 team with this OL. We will win maybe 6-7 games.

I think that combining a guy like Merling with a 5th or 6th round pick can bring a starter. Not a stud, mind you, but a starter. I'm thinking that as we speak, Ireland and his scouts are scouring the league for a team and a situation that we can make a deal with. We are a SOLID right-side-of-the-offensive-line away from contending with any and every team in this league, IMO. Your telling me that the Giants, with their situation at corner, wouldn't be somewhat eager to deal for a Benny Sapp or Nolan Carroll? That's precisely the type of team we should be talking to.

Exactly. Didn't our oline coach come from there??? that is one of the things which concerns me about o'hara, i would think if our oline coach had confidence in him he would already have been brought in.
