FOXBORO - Several players expressed disappointment yesterday in how the fans heartily booed the team during and after its 38-13 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday at Gillette Stadium.

Cornerback Ellis Hobbs [stats] was particularly vocal.
“It amazes me - it amazes me - how people react,” said Hobbs, who watched the Pats’ 21-game win streak come to a grinding halt. “You would think this organization hasn’t won as much as they have and been as successful in the years that they have. It’s a testament to how spoiled they are. Expectations are that high that we’re not allowed a bad game?

How many times has someone had a bad day at the office? How many times has someone missed a deadline for getting a paper in, or whatever?

“Even the kids . . they’ve got the kids out there, where I’m hearing they’re even crying over this and that’s a direct relationship from the parents down. Is it that bad?

You’ve got people dying every day. This is a sport. And you’ve got kids out there crying over a loss in the regular season? It makes me look at it like, ‘Am I supposed to be crying?’ ”
Tight end Benjamin Watson [stats] also offered his opinion.
“I think (the fans) expect certain things out of us, which is a good thing because it means we’ve done some great things here, so there’s a certain level of expectancy,” Watson said. “They hold us to a high standard, much like the standard we hold ourselves to. (But) for them to leave, it was pretty disgusting to watch.”

Some comments left by pats fans after reading what Hobbs and Watson had to say:

Sorry Pats, but you gets booed when you suck;

.... for what my family pays for season tickets, I want the Pats players to know they sucked.

DON'T TELL ME I CAN'T BOO !! Sure I left early, but at least 50 guys on this team NEVER SHOWED UP !! I don't ever again want to hear about the "Patriot Way". Just a bad game ?? The whole team ?? Should have been fined - not just booed...

I am thinking by Hobbs and watson making these whiner comments they wil be hearing more boo.s not less.

I'm a 20 year season ticket holder and I stayed till the very end. I booed just as loud as everyone, and I hope they heard me. I don't blame a single person for leaving because guess what: People have better things to do with their Sundays than watch the Patriots LAY DOWN...

The Miami Dolphins just came into your house and laid it on you and have no intention of calling you in the morning, and you expect the fans not to boo

Hobbs needs to just shut up and DO THE JOB HE IS PAID TO DO. Guess what, little boy, I've been a Patriots season ticket holder LONGER THAN YOU HAVE BEEN ALIVE!! If I want to boo, I'm going to boo ... I've PAID for the right to boo a team that SUCKED as badly as you did Sunday.

you gotta love the pat fans. they are bad winners and sore losers. I dont even understand what they are so upset about? Its not like it was the superbowl. according to them their regular season wins mean nothing the ony game that matters is the superbowl. If that is true would it not stand to reason that it should not bother them to lose a meaningless game.

Like the greedy, spoiled children who get 99 out of 100 gifts on their impossible Christmas list and have a tantrum, the Pats fans can't have it all, all the time.

They excuse their betrayal of a team that's given them more than any fan base in the league over the last few years and lay the blame on that same group that has done so much, so selflessly for them.

What a joke so many (not all) of them are.

Patriots fans have a right to be angry. They are one of the most talented teams in the league, and Belicheck refuses to admit the new starting quarterback cannot play football. All he needs to do is swallow his pride and call Daunte, or to engineer a trade of some sort.

Sorry but you can keep Cullpooper. To me it doesn't make sense to bring in a veteran backup QB. Cassel knows the offense and it would take too much time to bring another QB up to speed with the "O". Look at Farve as an example even he hasn't fully grasp the jets offense and he's a career starter with 18 yrs experience.
Besides it wasn't Matt Cassels fault that Brown ran for 4 TDs and passed for 1. Cassel doesn't have to be Brady he only has to manage the offense but when your defense can't stop anything well even brady couldn't have won that game. When you get down that much it takes away your game plan and puts too much pressure on a young QB. Cassel needs to manage the offense and the defense has to keep you in the game for this team to have a chance. Not to take away anything from the dolphins, they played perhaps the best game the've played that I've seen in a long time, but NE is a better team than they played like last sunday. Its only 1 game and its early in the season but I think most pats fans are disappointed with the total lack of effort displayed by the entire team right up thru to the coaching staff.
