whos better the dophins with no pepper or steelers with no ben?

in other words im askin in week 1 if none of them play and both back ups play, who will have the better team?

Steelers even without ben are still viable. They like to rely on their defense more than offense anyways, which is just pound the ball inside. We have the better backup QB but we still have some holes to fill here and there.

i'll take my chances with joey harrington over tommy maddox every day, and twice on THURSDAY!!!
Maddox doesn't play for the steelers anymore. It would be Batch or Omar Jacobs.

I think Lemon has a better chance of starting this game than Jacobs. If God forbid Ben can't go, I seriously doubt that Jacobs will have progressed enough to push Batch out of the Back-up role. Then again, if Ben is out for any amount of time, I bet Tommy will be back.....

One element that everyone seems to overlook:

We are going to walk into a beast of a hostile environment.
With Ben or without.

No matter how you slice it. A very tall order indeed.

It's hands down Dolphins. Last year the Steelers were 1-3 when Roethlisberger didn't play and Maddox's QB rating was around 40 or 50. They have Charlie Batch now so I'm not sure who we would get but even if we still had Frerotte, we are a much better team that last year's 9-7 team. We are better AT EVERY POSISTION! No doubt about it we would be better off.

Nicely said. Hostile environment or not, we are the better team. JH should be ready and we should be ready to handle the business at hand.

They have holes as well. If they can beat us without their starting QB, then we are not a playoff caliber team.
Charlie Batch would be their starter as of right now and he stinks.
Also keep in mind that the Steelers were not a dominant team throughout the season. They got hot at just the right time. This is not an all time great team, they have their share of weaknesses.

Last time I checked the crowds weren't allowed onto the field. Good teams keep their composure and play.
The Browns, Bills, Jets , Chiefs also have loud crowds, but how many championships have they won over the last 30 years?

last years record without Ben would not be a fair comparison. They will know ALL of the preseason and will have someone ready. It won't be a suddenly go in a play affair.

I think the Phins get the nod there because the Steelers are a very different team without Ben. The Phins have proven that they can win with a mediocore QB (e.g. Gus) and I find it hard to believe that Joey is not a better QB than Gus.

Fins get the Win!

We've known for sometime that we might not see Dante until week 2,3, or even 4.
Ben's accident (thoughts and prayers by the way), could have a way of screwing up some chemistry on that team.

One has got to love it when two ex-Lions would most likely be the choice backups for each team. I think it would be amusing to see Batch and Harrington in a battle of the exes! (Not to mention Batch attended my Alma Mater - still won't change my choice of Harrington kicking it at QB for us!)
