What does this have to do with anything I've said in this post?

As I said in another post, Philbin and Ireland both said that personnel decisions will be a collaborative effort. Which means unlike with Sparano, Ireland will listen to Philbin on what kind of players he wants to field a competitive team.

Of course it's up to Ireland after that but your doom and gloom attitude is not going to rub off on me. :d-day:

I thought the old Browns were the Otto Grahams' and Jim Browns' led teams.

Those are the ancient browns :)

Coach Philbin and Jeff Ireland did say decisions on personnel will be a collaborative effort. While Ireland may run the team, many of the personnel decisions being made is made with Philbin's input.

This is Ireland 2nd or 3rd draft, depending on whom to believe, that Ireland has final say in the draft.

"Collaborative effort" being Philbin makes a suggestion to his boss, Ireland, who then decides to go after the player or not. Even when he decides to go after the player, he might not get them(as we are seeing).

Hilarious that Philbin and Ireland's "collaborative effort" is completely awesome and sure to succeed. But Ireland, Sparano, and Parcells "collaborative effort", which failed, is what...get out of a free card for Ireland? Ireland has been apart of "collaborative efforts" that follow the logic of building through the draft. This is year 5 of that philosophy. That philosophy is only as good as the person in charge of it. Joe Philbin, who had no part of talent acquisition in Green Bay, is not going to be some light bulb epiphany to Jeff Ireland's incompetence.

And what part of the last 2 offseasons that have been run by Ireland thrilled you? The part where Ireland tried to trade for Kyle Orton, the part where he signed Marc Colombo, or the part where he traded away Brandon Marshall for next to nothing?

Never really a Cubs fan but did like them when The Hawk was there.

There's no plan. If there was a plan to get a qb in the draft or stick with Moore than we would have used some money on a RT to protect them. This front office is winging it.

Once again...what makes you think Philbin wanted Flynn?

Sparano didn't have a say in personnel until after the Harbaugh Fiasco so I'm not sure how you can include Sparano in the Parcells/Ireland decision making collaborative effort.

If Philbin has an idea of what kind of players he needs/wants for this team to get over the hump, and Ireland doesn't listen to him, then one or both of them will be looking for a new job next year.

I don't know... what would make me think the dolphins wanted Flynn? How about that they offered him a contract similar to Seattle despite being tight on salary space.

I guess they didn't really want Manning or Harbaugh either.

How do you know that plan is not to select a RT in the draft?

I think some of posters on here just need some cheese with that whine.

And yet Flynn chose Seattle. How is that Ireland's fault?

BTW, what was Miami's offer to Flynn?

Well we know that through some logic.

1) If they planned to stick with Moore they wouldn't have interviewed every QB that has laced up cleats...

2) If they planned to draft a QB 1st in the draft then they can't draft a good RT in the draft (1st round).

You could be right though, their plan could be to get a 2nd round QB and a 4th round RT.. Come to think of it that is the most logical option...

At this point I think the plan is to sign Smith or draft Ryan Tannehill. Both of which aren't good enough for me. I think Ross is so desperate to put fans in the seats that the Fins are going to have to get one or the other in order to create excitement. I don't live in Miami, but if I did, Alex Smith and Ryan Tannehill are not going to get me to purchase tickets.

I don't know Miami's offer thats why I said reportedly close. They didn't say an amount just that it was in same ballpark.

you are cracking me up now. You said miami didn't really want flynn and when I said they offered him a contract you changed the subject.

How is it Ireland's fault? Flynn said he chose Seattle because of the vibe of the staff. Dez Bryant had the same vibe.

You misunderstand. I wanted to fire Sparano after 3 years (obviously i was correct). But its a travesty that Ireland was not fired also. I'd say we lucked into one of the leagues worst owners too but that isn't likely to change anytime in the near decade.

How can you fire Ireland when his moves, Moore and Bush played so well?

If you are going to be one of these guys and try and lump the Tuna's choices in with his, I'm not sure there's much to talk about.

Does that mean that Philbin was not totally sold on Flynn as a franchise QB? :ponder:

Well keep me from being "one of those guys". Tell me which draft picks and trades Ireland was the decider on and which ones was Parcells was the decider.
I don't think anyone could even FIND parcells the last year or so he worked for the dolphins personally, but just give me the list and I can see what Ireland is responsible for. Please inform me. Which ideas were Ireland's during the Parcell's regime? I'm sure Ireland didn't have 1 single idea during any of those drafts that Parcells agreed with?
