Some stories cite family or league sources. However those sources are in direct control of Manning or the teams involved in this.
It's like when Marshall Faulk said what he said on the NFL Network, I would be shocked if he was not asked to say that from someone within the Manning family. Faulk basically told everyone Peyton wants to go to Miami, but he also wanted to try and use the Jets as leverage for when Miami and Manning sit down to talk.
IMO that's all Denver is, they are leverage being applied by Manning for when he sits down with Miami. Denver has a lot of cap room, that has to make Miami nervous.
