No respect: Dolphins kickers discuss their roles

When I played High School ball back in 1987 at Fontana High School in California. I was the QB and FS. I did everything and even our kickers did everything. I the college ranks, they are considered specialist with very talented legs which so they consintrate on just doing that. But, I feel in pros they need to do a little more. They get paid very good money as an assasain as Saban said. But, they should not disrespect the other players and the other players should not disrespect them. Each an every person on the team has a job to do. Regardless, of how they train.

It reminds me of the manga Eyeshield 21. In Eyeshield 21, all the players played more than one position. Eyeshield 21 himself was a Running Back and Safety while the Quarterback of his team also played safety.

Absolutely right. In high school there is not enough players so you must play both positions Offense and Defense. Do you play ball now? Is it still the way it was back in 1987? I am an old man now. I haven't seen a high school football game since then. When my boy goes to high school I will be able to again. He is now just 6 but, dear ol dad is instilling Football in to him. He plays pop warner. He is MLB and RB. It's awesome watching him play.

Kickers might not get much respect but they can decide the outcome of a close game.

It's still the same way. At my highschool, our quaterback was also our cornerback. Our defensive line consisted of several of the o-line starters. And I believe one of our rb's was a saftey.

I don't play ball now (though I'm comtemplating walking on my sophomore year in FAU). But from what I saw before I graduated from high school, it's somewhat still like that. Even a friend of mine who plays in college plays as a safety and linebacker.

Our kickers should be out kicking off a baseball infield and not in the bubble. Now THAT would be useful practice time. :)

Zgonina craked me up in that article btw. He was so emphatic, its hard to tell if he was serious or joking.

Kicking is an exact science, I would love to be talented enough to decide games on my own
