I have no idea why some of you are dying for this guy. He looks like a taller Ted Ginn. Sure he's fast and can jump but that alone doesn't make you a wr. He catches most passes with his body and drops way too many passes. This guy wouldn't make the dolphins roster if drafted

Its all because his height and how much of a athlete he is. He does drop alot of passes and he doesnt know how to run routes. If we take him thats fine but we better not taking him with the 4th. There is still recievers out there that can have a instant impact next year and streeter is not one of them.

He's a project. There's nothing that Streeter doesn't have that can't be coached.

Miami is notorious for having poor coaching. Then, once players get to the league, they ball out.

It's because they actually have decent coaching at the next level.

He's a rare athlete who obviously you take on potential. As far as his play on the field, he had a lot going against him. Miami's offense led by Jacory was not exactly dynamic. More than that Randy Shannon had a special gift for wasting talent and having zero ability at player development. This last year Streeter took substantial steps forward and showed flashes. Like a lot of these UM players coming out he should have stayed another year and you'd be looking at him going much earlier.

BTW isn't it a little weird to actively campaign against getting a 6'5 4.3 WR in the 4th round or later?

If the kid hasn't learned to catch with his hands after pop warner, high school, and college, I am pretty confident in saying our coaching staff isn't going to magically get results that none of his previous coaches have (without a doubt in my mind) been trying to correct his whole career.

A receiver that can't catch belongs on the island of misfit toys, not the Miami Dolphins.

Especially when he's probably just as good as...whatever we have left?

Less & Flatline.

Not even CLOSE. Hartline is 10x the WR (in this offense) that Streeter is. Streeter is a speedster who doesn't catch naturally with his hands, doesn't run routes, and can't block downfield. It's not. even. close. Hartline gets separation due to excellent routes and has fantastic hands. Bess is unathletic but cuts incredibly well and while he lacks a 2nd gear he's so quick with his cuts that he is a tremendous slot threat.

We got an amazing value from DA U in the 3rd, so just be happy with that. Not every Miami player is an absolute gem, as crazy as it sounds. Streeter will not be a pro WR for more than 2 years.

He can catch just like Tebow can throw. Just not very polished. It's easily corrected.

They don't correct that in high school very often. They do in college but not at Miami because our coaches ****ing suck.

This is correctable at the next level. See Sam Shields. Guy couldn't play DB or WR at Miami. Then all of a sudden he's playing well for the Packers and balling out in the playoffs. Explain that.

DeMarcus Van Dyke. Kid couldn't wrap up on a tackle to bring down a 4th grader in a broom closet. Surprise surprise once he gets to the NFL. They've taught him a thing or two.

I don't think any of the players we had declare are absolute gems.

I think Lamar Miller is a scrub. Too soft. Dances too much. Afraid of contact. Same for Benjamin. Sean Spence is undersized because our S&C program at Miami is prehistoric. List goes on and on. Streeter is good value in the 5th round.

A taller Ted Ginn? Awful comparison. Ginn weighed 180, this guy weighs 220 and catches everything.

Actually its a great comparison. They're both lanky and lack the proper tools to be a nfl wr. They rely strictly on their athletic ability. Neither has good hands and are both fast.

I hope you're right (assuming we draft him.)

Unfortunately, its been my experience that kids who are naturally gifted athletes relying on those skills alone to become successful, fall off the charts down the road because they ignore the fundamentals and are too proud/arrogant/****y etc... to actually put the time and effort into listening, correcting, and practicing the proper techniques.

Its a shame when a coach allows such raw talent to go to waste by not stressing the basics early on.

Funny you mentioned Tebow though, I was thinking the same exact thing. Now he is a kid with a positive attitude and great work ethic (not saying Streeter doesn't), so far, his mechanics haven't changed much. I'm curious to see how his development turns out.

Old habits are hard to break.

Streeter picked the wrong year to come out. He's not polished and there are too many top rated competitors at that position. If he improves as much between 2011 and 2012 as the prior year, then you have something. If not, he's not sudden or urgent enough for the NFL, not as a starter. Reminds me of a thoroughbred trying to play football. Head down and takes a while to get going. Routes that often don't qualify for the description. Awesome potential as a deep red zone target, particularly if he learns to snag at apex. I loved the athletic arrogance he started to demonstrate in fade situations last year. On deep balls he waits and doesn't attack.

Travis Benjamin is more like a mini Ted Ginn. He's leggy and more fast than quick, with terrific deep speed but all types of frailty. Home run kick returner but not dependable for 5-10 yard returns. Prefers to loop the field.

LaRon Byrd might be a decent very late pick or free agent for a west coast offense.

Aldarius Johnson is an attitude concern but he was rated higher than any of them 4 years ago, or even 3.

Why didn't we make this a moot point by identifying T.Y. Hilton a few hours ago? Miserable fat Belgian bastard Colts.

Lol at this. Ginn was scared of his own shadow when he was here. Strictly rely on their athletic ability? The whole damn league relies on athletic ability! The rest can be coached.
