About this QB situation -- the two quarterbacks Miami has is just as "good" as Trent Dilfer was, when he was with the Bucs and Ravens -- and what did he do? He won a Super Bowl.

The point is that Miami still puts too much emphasis on its quarterback, perhaps from the years of having a cornerstone player under center -- the truth is, whether it's Feeley, Frerotte or Rosenfels, Miami will be fine. With two stud running backs and a decent that's still fairly decent, they do have a shoot. These quarterbacks haven't done much to win games for them, but they've not done much to lose game either.

They have yet to prove they are as good as Dilfer, and just may never prove it!

Wow, I realized that I typed like a 23-year-old 3rd grader from Mississippi in the last post. I meant to say "with a fairly decent defense, they have a shot." I need my Red Bull and coffee.

Good post. I'm not going to say we're SB contenders this year, but I'll still remain optimistic. I don't understand the point of being a fan of a football team if you're just gonna be pessimistic, especially before the real season has even started.

Three words: Any given sunday! :)

The thing about Dilfer is he didn't make mistakes to lose games. AJ is chock full of mistakes to lose games and Gus although not as bad as AJ, will probably make his share of them too.

Gus's success is going to rely heavily on Ronnie, Ricky, and the Offensive line

Sure you can win it all with Dilfer........ IF you happen to have one of the greatest defenses of ALL TIME!!!!

Same goes for Brad Johnson, Tampa's Defense was absolutley Amazing that year.

Those are the only two mediocre QBs I can remember going deep into the playoffs recently, let alone winning it all.

The only way you win with a guy like that is with stellar defense, a powerful running game, and some luck also.

Almost 75 % of playoff teams have former 1st round QBs under center.

Dilfer was extremely solid.. it's an injustice to him to compare AJ to him. Gus is slightly more comparable.

But lets face it, the Ravens D of 2000 was scary, one of the best ever.

Gus could be compared to Dilfer, AJ no way. He makes way too many mistakes. I've been pullin for AJ all along, but he makes it difficult to continue. I've never seen anyone throw the ball to the other team so much. I agree with the original post, that it is possible to do well with an average(well in our case below average ) QB if they play smart and don't make many mistakes.

Agreed, nice post

Gus is capable of putting up better numbers than Dilfer. Sure, Gus completion percentage is low. He was off target quite a bit in his last game (against the Bucs). BUT, he was making the right reads for the most part and he is not afraid to go for the big play. If (IF) Gus gets his timing down and hits those passes he was missing, then our passing game could put up big numbers. It may take a game or two (maybe three) but he, along with our recievers, can get it done. We obviously have receivers who can stretch the field and get open. We have had some inconsistencies from the recievers as far as drops. So they need to pick it up as well.
AS for AJ: He just lacks confidence to go deep on a consistent basis. He uses his dump off TOO much, he locks onto his receiver and he throws too many INTs for TDs. He showed last night that against first team (and some second and third team) he just can't get it done. He makes terrible decisions whether he has time or not. There was only one sack last night and none last week. Our o-line is playing better. So it's hard to throw blame at them unless you're looking for excuses. I won't be surprised at all if Feeley is let go. In fact, I'll be surprised if he isn't.

Dilfer is not as bad a QB as you may think. He may not put up crazy #'s but he is solid and doesn't make many mistakes. You cannot compare him to gus or feeley. Honestly I would love to have him on this team rather than what we have now.

 Plus Dilfer didn't throw INT's returned for TD's. As long as your qb's does not contribute mistakes like Dilfer....

Aren't you the same person that made a post stating we should have drafted Aaron Rodgers rather than Brown? Make up your mind :D
