...how good Ronnie Brown is going to be at this point. There have been backs who have played poorly their first two games in the league (Payton and E. Smith) who've gone on to set the league rushing record, and there have been backs who have played well in their first two games who have gone on to do nothing.

Now that that's out of the way, tell me this -- what did you all see in Ronnie Brown's college film clips (or in person or whatever) that made you excited about getting him? And we all know he has great hands (who knows why he hasn't had a downfield pass route yet, by the way), so tell us what you saw in him purely as a RUNNER.

I didn't see much that distinguished him, personally. I pretty much felt like if he would've ran .056 seconds slower in the 40 at the combine (4.50 instead of 4.44) he would've been a late 1st/early-to-mid 2nd round pick.

I saw a back that had good vision and was very surprisingly quick for his size.

To answer your "by the way" question about why Ronnie hasn't had a down field route yet, my guess is it is because he missed so much of training camp. He has a lot of the system yet to learn. No doubt as each week passes Ronnie will be involved in a greater variety of plays. Including down field passes.

Your OL is a work in progress. You have one of the best OL coaches. In time they will open up holes for Brown. Some people here didn't believe me when I said it takes time for the OL to have chemistry no matter how good you OL coach is plus Houck inherited these players who were hand picked by your last coach and we all know how that turned out.

Totally agree. Even with the best Oline it takes atleast 3 or 4 games to see how the gell and that is with the same group of guys playing side by side. The mix and matching of guys we had through pre season will make it even longer to get them to gell. We have the coachs now but just need their players. This season is going to be a work in progress and not until Saban and his staff get their players will we be able to play their kind of ball. So far I love all the new additions to this team.

I agree but please god no more Ronnie Brown threads. Hes gone from the most ignored to be under the FinHeaven microscope. Leave the man alone and let him develop for christ sakes!

It doesnt help every major paper here is blowing it out of proportion.

Nothing makes the world seem crazy like sound logic from a Bills fan.

But yeah, the OL will get better not just as a unit but as a unit working with Ronnie Brown. Your line has to adjust to your running back, and with what happened last year paired with Ronnies holdout this group hasn't had a chance to adjust to anyone. Houck will make these players better and if need be will pick up players of his own in the future.
