he has been garbage this preseason, he lucky his mom got his back becase he DID NOT earn a roster spot

He looked like he had high potential last year. I wouldn't be too quick to discard him. If he continues to underperform, he will get cut.

I agree 100%, he has been terrible and def did not earn a roster spot, he has been getting smoked all per-season and he couldn't cover my 80yr old grandma, besides being a decent KR he has no value on this team at all, I would of rather kept Will Allen who out performed him in only 2 games of the pre-season, he played really well against tampa and dallas and I think def earned a spot on this team, he is a big film room guy and would do nothing but help smith and davis develop, plus we face shcaub, brady, rivers.... and all this teams like to use 4 and 5 wr's and having Allen would of helped big time, Jimmy Wislon is a good blitzer and play-maker but he cant cover either, keeping nolan carroll over will allen was def a mistake, hell we coulda cut marlon moore and still kept will allen!

You just don't cut guys because they didn't have a great preseason. Especially 2nd year guys who have already shown potential in REAL games. Carroll is the primary boundary backup CB . . . if Davis or Smith get hurt, Nolan is the first guy in.

If Nolan is the guy who comes in if smith or davis get hurt then were in trouble, will allen would have been a far better option than carroll!!!

Yea, and then Will Allen's knees swell up like they have done 2 years in a row. Carroll came in at times last year and looked great. He isn't a great slot CB, when they put him in the slot, he seems to struggle. You put him on the boundary he looks like a better player. The guy has great measurables also. I am not understanding how you can make these assumptions based on 4 preseason games, when we have a 16 regular season game body of work that suggests his improvement going forward.

It would have been a mistake to cut Carroll for Will Allen, but they should have found a way to keep Will Allen. You shouldn't put so much emphasis on the preseason.

He plays ST well. That's why he made the team. It really is as simple as that.

I think you hit the nail on the head here.

Sounds like you guys think real football works as if you and 2 of your other buddies make up the whole roster. Much as the poster said above, a guy with potential and is not a huge cap hit , and a solid special teams contributor.

nolan the first guy in is what im scared of

He played really well last season. I would rather keep a young guy with upside and potential, than a veteran who has barely been able to see the field the last two years.

He was solid last season in the same role and he was a rookie then. We are set with Davis/Smith/Sapp as our top 3 CB's . . . Nolan as the primary boundary CB and Wilson as a guy who has gotten burn in the slot and on the boundary is perfectly suitable for a team. Most teams are going to have concerns at their #4 CB, but Carroll atleast showed last year he can play and compete on Sundays, let's give him the benefit of the doubt and not dwell so much on a few preseason games.

he also made a good outside play on the WR and broke up the pass vs. tampa i believe. I would not say he played like "garbage" A nega nilly term used to degrade someone to the point of absoluteness.

That is not true. If you want to say he did not beat out Allen then that is the reason. But it doesnt fit the agenda.

Nolan Carroll is young and has not been injured to a great degree and yes, also is in on special teams on both ends. Will Allen would fizzle out. I do not think this particular move is wrong.

I do question bigtime getting rid of Berger for Cook. I think Berger is more reliable as backup than Cook will be regardless of Cook's so called versatility.

It continues to amaze me that folks here think they are better talent evaluators than the personnel on the Dolphins staff...just by watching games on TV. Stick to watching the games on TV, leave the talent evaluation to the professionals, and quit making utter fools of yourselves.

BTW, just read possibly that Berger was going on IR? If true, now i understand better.
