Today I was thinking about Nolan's defense. I really don't like how far the corners play off and it just seems like his defense isn't that great. Since the guy took over the defense we haven't been able to cover tight ends. Just curious what everyone else thinks. This year I think we won't even be in the top 20 for defense.

We werent able to cover tight ends with Pissqualoni either. Carroll was playing so far off because he sucks and his recovery time is some of the slowest ive ever seen

funny how we got burnett to cover tightends but yet we still get owned by them.. so idk wtf is nolan doing with these linebackers

We still can't defend tight ends year after year
and game #1 Fasano has over 80 yards in receptions and
game #2 NOT even 1 reception...wtf is it with tight ends and this team?

I swear I remember Dolphin fans telling me that Mike Nolan was Rex Ryan's equal when it comes to defense.

I think the problem for the defense, is that it is the only thing that teams could prepare for. THe Defense didn't change, the offense did, that is why we were able to surprise the other teams with the offensive play calls. People could prepare a game plan against Nolans D. I think also with the high defensive ranking from last year, Miami believed the hype, we ALL did. There is nothing wrong with Nolans scheme. Say what you want about Crowders shortcomings, and not being fast enough to cover tight ends, he made a difference in run support that was noticable, and he got everyone lined up correctly. We miss Crowder just like we needed to get Will Allen back. Nolan doesn't make personel decisions, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb do. (Ireland & Sparano)

Why is it that when all these coaches that have great resumes at what they do, come here lay an egg and we all call for their heads then they leave and they look like geniuses again with their new team? Capers, Cameron, Murlarkey, and now Nolan?

Capers was highly touted as a D-Coordinator from his days with the Steelers, he comes here and our D looks plain he goes to GB and they have a dominate Defense and he gets all this credit for being a genius.

Cameron was one of the best O-coordinators he comes here and is a nightmare we all wish we could forget, bad picks, worse record in franchise history and our Offense looks as bad as it ever did, he goes to Baltimore and has had their offense playing as good as it ever has.

Murlarkey was a play calling mastermind and the idea of having 3 head coaches on the team was exciting (Saban, Murlarkey, and Capers) but very soon we couldn't wait to see Murlarkey gone, his play calling was horrible the O was unimpressive and his kid was getting picked on in school by all of the kids who heard their parents screaming about how bad he was on sundays. He goes to the Falcons and they now have an offensive power house and every time they have a prime time game the announcers always make time to mention how good of a play caller he is.

and Nolan, he lead great defenses in Baltimore and turned the Broncos defense from last to top 10 in one year. He was a defensive mastermind, with all kinds of crazy exotic blitz packages. We looked great last year but this year we look flat and plain, no emotion, no crazy blitz packages to get pressure on the QB, no in game adjustments to help stop the holes, guys look confused and don't know where to go.... and we are returning 10 starters and upgraded the 11th position, and i have no doubt that if we end up cleaning house this season or he just decides to leave this disfuntion of a franchise on his own i have no doubt he will go to another team and make them look great.

So what is it about us that all these coaches who had great success before us, come here and look terrible then go somewhere else and look great again?

It appears that some of our players still dont know the calls on defense, particularly Jones and Burnett. Both have been out of place on coverages and that's on Nolan.

Crzynick: that is EXACTLy what pisses me off about this team. The same thing could be said about players that leave here.

Those guys coached players that are top ten, top 15 at their positions. Capers has Woodson and Matthews; Cameron had Boldin, Heap, Ray Rice and Flacco; Murlarkey has Turner, White, Gonzalez, Matt Ryan.

Besides Cam Wake who on this defense actually made plays last year? Don't say Dansby because he didn't do jack and IMO has been a bust so far.
