I am getting ready to watch the Cubs and Red Sox game and they showed Nomar Garciaparra talking about how he is going to be getting a Boston Red Sox World Series Ring......that is so WRONG!!!! Granted, Nosemar was a Red Sox for a long time but he was a Chicago Cub when they Red Sox won their world series, and he had no part in the Red Sox winning the series. What a joke.

If I was him I would auction it off. He'll probably get a nice chunk of change. It's not big deal, the ring has no sentiment to him so he might as well sell it!

He doesnt deserve it, he didnt help them a bit to earn that ring. He basically made the Sox trade him. This is pretty sad. He should man up and not except it. Sham.

Sorry guys, he was on the squad for part of the year and probably had impact on a certain amount of their wins....so TECHNICALLY he did contribute...

Technically...cmon he was there for some of the regular season. His teamates voted for him to get a share of money and a ring because they are his buddies. If he wasnt popular with the team he wouldnt have gotten a thing. He didnt play in the postseason, he doesnt deserve a ring. Im a sox fan, I like Nomar, this whole thing is a sham.

Well, the guys that the Sox got in return (O. Cabera?) wasnt there the whole season....I guess he shouldnt get a ring either..

Like it or not...game number 32 for example has just as much weight as game 162....as much as the analysts like to say that the games are "magnified" down the stretch...

Nomar competed in those....

It's not even an issue...I'd rather be part of the moment then just get a giant ring, it's nice but still....rather would have the moment and not have the ring if I had to pick one of the two.

That's a bunch of BS, popular with his teammates?? You have got to be kidding me. The guy was a loaner in the clubhouse, and was completely unpleasant to be around for the first half of 2004. Because of his reserved attitude, Millar (granted a very big dumb***, but he was right on about this) actually went on record saying how he would love A-Rod to be throwing balls to him from short while the Red Sox were in pursuit of him over the winter. He also stated that he felt A-Rod would have been a better fit in the clubhouse, or at least an improvement over Nomar. Nomar's skin was too thin to play in Boston, he took everything written and said about him to heart.

As for him getting a ring, I believe it's a combination of what TerryTate said about him playing for the team up until the trade deadline. And I also believe that it was a way of the Red Sox putting to rest any hard feelings from how he left. He was a fan favorite and a Boston baseball icon for 7 years ever since he came up from the minors, I'd say with the contributions he made to the franchise, this was the least the Sox organization could do.

Sorry but if you were traded and werent in the postseason you didnt win a championship. I cant remember this happening in other sports. Its a sham to wear a ring and say youre a champion when you were traded during the season. The situation with Cabera is different, he helped them in the playoffs. Nomar watched the post season at home and got a ring. I had as many postseason hits, runs and Rbi's as Nomar. Cmon you dont get rings because you were a fan favorite or the organization "owes you", cmon Boston doesnt owe Nomar a thing. He couldnt take the fact that he was mentioned in the ARod deal and never got over it.

Of course Nomar helped the Sox get their rings...if they hadn't swapped him for Cabrera and Mientkiewicz, they wouldn't have won the title! :)

Woah, that's pretty sweet. I for one am glad. Nomar was the face of the organization for so many years, and was one of the best SS in the league. It sucked losing him (the franchise is changing, sometimes for the good, sometimes for the bad).

Not to mention he did play for us in 04, so why shouldn't he get one?

Finfan- Nomar wasn't a clubhouse cancer previous to '04. He was ticked off with the organization, and he had every right to be. Millar should have shut his mouth too.

We would have won the WS regardless. Nomar also would have put up much better numbers then Cabby (250ish average vs. a .321), although the defense would have been a little worse. The big issue wasn't SS, it was 1st base and Doug took care of that when he showed up (then Millar bitched and cried he wasn't gettting enough time so Doug did the 8th inning on).

If they gave rings to the grounds-crew and the office suit and tie people, then Nomar should get a ring!

Plus the players voted on it, so who is anyone to say he shouldn't.

Here in Colorado there is a Broncos cheerleader that is sporting a huge Broncos superbowl ring....wonder what she did to earn that?????
