Noodle arm nickname misplaced

The whole thing with arm strength is silly. Very few passes of 60+ yards get thrown per season, let alone completed. Consequently, whereas it might be desirable on a situational basis (like a hail Mary), it's overrated as a required attribute. You don't need a cannon as much as you need an arm that's strong enough. And #1 has enough of an arm to rank high in YPA and that's all that's necessary. Dude is 38-24. His problem ain't his arm.

I remember reading that Tua threw the football at 88 miles per hour, which matched Tom Brady among others. I think Josh Allen was at 102, or something insane like that.

The point is, Tua’s arm is strong enough. It's more about accuracy, and ball placement, than arm strength most of the time.
Dude... Allen does not throw a football Nolan Ryan speed. I think you misread the article. Baseballs and footballs are quite different.

Tua jets it out there at like 40 mph which is 30 mph faster than me thereby making it seem he has cannon

Sorry brother but either you’re misremembering or you got bad information. No body throws a football that fast.
I believe the info he is referring to was an article that showed the speed at which each Qb threw the football was equivalent to them throwing a baseball a certain speed.

So unless Tua is a 37 year old future hall of famer like Clayton Kershaw, 88 mph isn’t getting it done and that person wouldn’t even be drafted by a MLB team as a pitcher.

Some of you spread miss information and then others on here take that info as fact and run with it, propping Tua up! 😂 🤦

No one out there throws a football 88 mph!! 😂

Disclaimer: I am not a Tua hater. I think the man can win a SB with a quality OL in front of him and the right mix of skill position talent.

That being said, I don't think the doubts about Tua's arm are in those situations where he has the time and space to use his normal throwing motion. I believe the criticism comes when he has to throw off his back foot or he can't get his lower half into the throw. I would like to see the velocity and accuracy on those types of throws and how he compares to most other QBs in the league.

I like Tua and have no issue with his arm at all. The only people who talk about his arm don't really watch him. Having said that, I don't think he is very athletic or evasive... that combined with being somewhat small puts a cap on his ceiling in my book. Hopefully he can stay healthy the next couple of years and win a playoff game or I would personally look to draft a more dual threat type.

if you watch like ravens 4th quarter come back few years back he is actually pretty evasive/ alot more athletic then people wanna admit.. the issue with tua is, maybe its subconscious after the college injury , althou he is just as able as he was then he doesn't do it as much as he did in college. and then the big issue to why I as much as I love the guy as a qb and think his passing is elite.. you gotta move on from him cause ...he is just cursed when it comes to injurys.

honestly he could prob dislocate his shoulder opening a pickle jar.. and talent/ skill aside.. it kinda doesn't mean much if he is missing 1/3rd of a season every year. if he wasnt injury prone I would be happy to have him til he retired and feel he has the talent to win it .. but thats not the reality and a franchise cannot succeed if your relying upon a guy you cannot trust to stay healthy

There's absolutely no question that a big arm is very nice to have, but it's not a must. Velocity will bail you out when you're late or in need to thread the needle, but anticipation, trajectory and accuracy can achieve great results also... 3 consecutive seasons with a rating over 100 is not common.

Like basically everyone here wants the GM and HC to get fired, everyone agrees the OL is bottom of the NFL bad. But somehow, explain the unusual success Tua's had the last 3 years by saying it's because of the coaching and talent around him... Make it make sense... 🤷‍♂️
I think when you break everything down as it relates to Tua theres two things to worry about

1) the GM and Head coach totally missed how to build a team around Tua’s skillset..

2) Tua’s arm is constricted when his feet aren’t set.

Both issues will keep us from winning big games

Perhaps building the line to be a strength will change a lot

Pennington had a noodle arm, Tua does not...someone who says so loses credibility. That's whether you like him or not, he doesn't have a strong arm, but its plenty strong, and can hit deep throws.

I would like to see more zip passes than arching touch passes though at appropriate times...
