I think we should address this position in next year's draft. If we are going to run a true 3-4 defense, we will need a franchise Nose Tackle. A real run stuffer to make our defense much more stingier.

I really like Alan Branch; 6'6 330 pounds, has a high motor. Alombi Okoye would be a good pick up as well.

I think Okoye is better suited as a 3-4 end if he is in fact drafted by a 3-4 D. CK has a good post regarding this in the thread about the best D-line, good read.

i agree that it should be addressed. But theres no way we'd even have a slight chance at alan branch. Guys a top 10 possibly top 5 pick.

Wasn't Gabe Watson a first round prospect last year?

For these defensive tackles, it all depends on the combines IMO.

Unless we trade up or Branch has a unreported injury there is very little chance we draft him. I like Okoye because of his upside. He's only 19 so his body still has of maturing to do.

getting an NT would be a waste of a pick...we have Dan Wilkinson, Fred Evans, Manny Wright, and even Rod Wright grooming. id wait a few years to see how Evans the Wright guys do...THEN get one. or well, there is always that Marcus Thomas guy from Florida gators...he got suspended for the year or something but apparently was a first round talent...so im guessing he'll go back to a 2nd day pick...in which case, ill take him.

Okoye's great...and he's only 20 years old! The sky's the limit with this kid's potential, and he'll be available much later than Branch.

Okoye is going to be very good! The kid is very young, and still developing as a man let alone a football player. I think he's like 19 years old or something, give him another couple of years and he's gonna be a monster. Branch is very athletic for his size, but I have a strange feeling that Okoye will be a better player when it is all said and done.

This isnt the NBA, give me production over potential (taking the pot over the prod rarely works in the NBA either  )

That said, I doubt Branch will be there at our pick, and I dont like anyone else in the first for a NT spot. Okoye would be a nice pickup in the third round if he is still there though. Like it has been said, DTs are heavily impacted by combine workouts.

Manny Wright may never play a game as a Dolphin again, Dan Wilkinson production has dropped as the year went by; looked like a great offseason pick up, but as the year went on he certaintly doesn't look that good anymore. Fred Evans is interesting, but still not proven.

Guys like Frank Okam, Alan Branch, Red Bryant arent realistically starting Nose Tackles.

6'5-6'6" guys arent Nose Tackles unless they have alot of weight on them. Those guys arent Ted Washington sized. Even someone like Terdell Sands is 6'7" 340+ pounds.

Look at Manual Wright. He was 6'6" 330+, and he was a DE/DT, and saw some time at passing-down NT. Odds are these players are going to slim down to 315-320ish.

Quinn Pit**** also belongs on the list.
