I will say Ginn can be a real special player as a return man and to not use him to his strengths makes us much weaker on kick returns. We looked very pedestrian today on kick returns.

Bess actually did ok on one of those kick off returns . . . but the big difference between him and Ginn is that after all the juking that Bess did, he got to like the 35 . . . Ginn can run straight and get to about the 30 . . . . I mean I understand that we want him to focus at WR . . . and watching yesterday, I can only imagine if he goes down how bad we will be . . . . but we need that weapon in the kicking game at ALL times.

Ginn had a bad day fielding punts though, but I know what he can do . . . he needs to be the primary returner.

Most of the kicks were Squibs so that was a non factor really. As for punts, Ginn did struggle on those, dont expect much more struggling on those though imo.

I think Bess will be fine. We don't need Ginn going down on kicks. We lose Ginn and a long year get's a lot longer.

Yeah for kick returns i was shocked he wasnt out there. As for punts i do not see anyone punting at him this season all will be at the sideline if that means we need to change our blocking scheme then so be it but for kicks and punts you need you most dynamic returner and thats Ginn. But now that the coaching staff has seen all the guys in game play against a good team i think they will make the adjustments.

Bess actually looked good on the return he had and the kid has speed mayby for now we should focus on teaching Ginn how to be a reciver and let the returns be done by Bess, just a thought.

I was happy with what i saw from Bess on kicks, especially that 1 punt he took for about 20 or 30 yards

I agree! Because he sure couldn't play wr very well at all. Like the last play at least try and stop the other guy from catching the darn ball!!! He has to have a vertical leap of more than 12 inches!!!:shakeno::err:

Kickoff returns were a non issue. They kept squib kicking it. So not having Ginn on kickoffs didn't hurt us today.

On punt returns Ginn looked like a rookie plain and simple.

Of course he is a weapon and I know he is better then what he showed yesterday. But he had chances on Special teams and did nothing. Even let a falling defender one hand ankle tackle him

i agree..... BUT...... Kick returners are a dime a dozen.... Ginn can command extra attention from the secondary... we need him set wide every down !!

He will still be getting alot of punt returns... which is how he really made a name for himself.

Good post and I agree. I thought Bess did good, but he is no Ginn. Ginn had an off day, but I dont expect that to be the norm. When you have a weapon like Ginn he has to be used as much as possible. Let him build confidence on his returns, and maybe it will transfer over to the wr spot.

We need to squeeze every bit of talent we have and put it on the field at all times. Ginn as a returner it a serious threat every kick. Top 10 in the league. Do you guys remember how long it had been without a return TD til Welker came along? It is not easy to get a top guy back there. They barely gave him reps in the preseason, so hopefully he just needed to shake the rust off.

Bess is a solid second option though. It sounded like coach plans on using him next week too, so hopefully he will get even better.

Its just like taking ronnie and ricky out on most 3rd downs. All it does is make your team not as good for that play. I don't get it. Its not like they were getting too wore out yesterday.
