A name that has been thrown around this site many times. Fumbilitis anyone???? Not impressed at all.

McNair wasnt impressive by any means either. Hopefully the Fins are done getting old guys/past their prime, and backups as starting qbs starting next season.

Exactly why I think if we are going to emphasize the importance of a verteran then we keep Frerotte. I think we'll certainly draft a QB in the first 4 rounds and have a veteran who won't break the bank as an important building block.

Volek is a completely serviceable starting QB in this league. This was a snip-it of a career. Everyone has a bad game now and then. I would be happy with him as our starter if that were the case. Much more comfortable than our current starter and much more comfortable than a guy we draft. Volek is a KNOWN quantity. Go ahead and bash me for saying so but the guy is good and there is very little uncertainty surrounding him. The only reason he's on the bench is because McNair is making too much money to sitting on the bench. Their season has been a disaster I just wonder if benching McNair would compound it from a PR perspective.

Agree, Just my opinion but I think Frerotte is almost a lock to be w/ the Fins next year. While a young guy is groomed. Draft pick/trade/or Lemon (maybe the coaches see something in practice, that we havent had the op to see.)Frerottes not impressive real often, but if the Fins go sign a Kitna, McNair, etc...Then their is another season, where you have a qb trying to learn Linehans system and the receivers. Plus, if they decide to draft a young guy then as well, they have 2 qbs trying to learn the system and the wrs. At least with Frerotte he knows the system and the wrs, although sometimes he makes me wonder.
Our situation could worse though...the Fins could have JP Lostman as the future! :sidelol:

I must admitt husker fin i have never been a big fan of mcnair and i think we all need to stop yacking about a aging qb and focus on a up and becoming qb and i think we should move up and take a guy like quinn or brad smith or just go after this printers kid and draft a wr and then focus on defense.

Any QB can learn the system. It isnt as hard as you make it out to be. Give any decent QB a few months and they can learn a system. Thats what Training camp is for. We have no excuse to not try to improve our weakest position
