Winning teams are built in the trenches. This team needs a complete makeover and it is very clear that Parcells is building a solid foundation for our team by drafting defensive and offensive lineman. These picks arent considered "sexy" by any means, but i think these picks are solid because it all starts up front.

Exactly. Something a large number of fans fail to realize, after all we are REBUILDING!!!

Thank You...Thank You...Thank You,at least 2 people grasp this concept.

Last year I was upset. Really upset.

This year, very very happy, this is the way you rebuild a franchise.

a very logical post was made a few days ago regading parcells and how boring this draft would be and how he was building the lines. i cant seem to find it, but i remember thanking the guy

I love our picks. It does start up front. Too many people listen to Mel Kiper types and think they actually know what they are talking about. The game of football is really pretty simple. Get pressure on their QB and give our QB time to throw. And to do that you need the guys in the trenches. Sure, they may not win MVPs, but they are the foundation of a winning football team.

I posted this in like 3 other threads, but the best way to improve your secondary is to cut down the time that the opposing QB has to make a play.
You improve your D Line, you make the Qb hurry.

My friend that played college ball pointed this out to me yesterday. It was one of those "OH YEAHHHHHHHHHHHH" moments for me.

Work on the front line this season, maybe work on the recievers and 2ndarys next season..Good plan.

we were rebuilding last year and i actually had no problem with who we drafted last year from 1st to 7th we had a GREAT draft...we added speed and depth at positions that are needed...we got Jake long ANY old fool we put in at the other Guard spot would have worked out because as a unit they are 10 times better...we got smilley we got Long....a 5th or 6th pick would have been fine now i understand that they didnt want to pay Asante what he thought he was worth and the rush of Cb's in the first round none worthy fell and Merling fell in our laps....after that there is no excuse...we will be exposed no matter how SICK the pass rush is(which it wont be that much) and how much we stop the running game...I seem to remember a viking team not too long ago when Ronnie had negative yardage...and we STILL beat them.....so break out the run stoppers when our gelatin defensive backfield are being exposed like jellyfish on dry land

so far after todays picks, and looking over other stuff. i like that draft so far, not love. i dont like henne at all 1 bit. but LOVE the Long/Merling/Langford picks.

A post that actually makes sense on this board? What is the world coming to?

This draft has been GREAT so far. The only thing that stinks is that they may kill the free buffets for Season ticket holders so they can feed these Mosters!!!!!!!!

Swap out the Henne pick for Dan Connor or CB Charles Godrey, and I'm totally good with this draft. As it stands, I like the emphasis of building the OL and DL.

Would a reciever have been nice? Sure, but maybe Hagan FINALLY steps up in his third year (not uncommon for a WR). Giving the QB another second or so to throw, or the HB another hole to run through, will mean more to this offense than just another skill player.

Would a CB have been nice? Yeah, but giving the opposing QB one less second to pass, or their HB one less hole to run though, will be very helpful to the secondary we do have.
