This team has made strides in the past two years but we do not have what it takes to win in crunch time.

Our defensive pass rush is inconsistent and at times invisible. Whether it's personnel or scheme/play calling ...not the ticket.

our offensive line is not the caliber of a playoff team. I guess we kinda knew that but there was hope from time to time.

We do not have a consistent play maker on either side of the ball. Our wide receivers are good but we MAY have one that is a threat to make plays for us, one that needs a lot of praise but disappears when the light is shown on him. our running backs are ok but who knows what their potential is without the line they need in front of them. Our d-line tries really hard, our linebackers nobody stands out and our defensive backfield is certainly good but really beat up with not enough quality depth.

Plenty of potential in some areas but as I have stated previously not one man on the team the opposing team has to really worry about. it's sad really for all of us having to be teased year after year but at the very least we have improved and can maybe be a spoiler but we do not have a winning attitude. The attitude that forces your will on your opponent. The swagger it takes to put others on notice. The talent, I believe, is there for the most part but I still truly think this team lacks leadership from the coaching. It's a trickle down effect that feeds others and in a sport filled with passion and emotion to come into it with anything less is a recipe to fail.

Still patching holes left by Ireland.

Maybe from a players perspective but Ireland did not implant a lack of urgency or a lack of passion...the new "leadership" is responsible for this and it really is embarrassing.

This team makes progress at a snail's pace. Sorry, but I needed to see more than what I saw. Were the Dolphins better? Yes. But they should have been significantly better than they were. Three years into Philbin and the same issues persist. Often comes out flat in big games. Doesn't finish well. Always gives up at least one third and long or a very long drive in each game. Gets conservative with a moderately-sized lead. Seems to lack mental toughness and gets outwilled by physical teams.

Sorry. I want to believe. But my eyes and experience tell me the upside for this team as presently managed is not very high. By the time they get enough talent to overcome the leadership deficiencies, Tannehill will be due big money that will make it harder to accumulate talent. Or he might be too old and/or beaten up to take advantage of it.

I'm tired of being patient and waiting for next year because "we are getting better." Really think this team needs to make a bold move.

I agree 100%...it may not read like it but that is mostly the point I was making.

How are you able to discern between ability and passion on the players part accurately? How do you know for sure?
So our roster is stock full of above average players, and perhaps more than it's share of pro bowl levelers also?

I am not able to discern those things. I do know what I see from watching the nfl for many years. The talent is there because we all see the plays made from time to time and for most of the players to even be here at this level they must have pro caliber ability. The passion is from the eyeball test. You can easily discern passionate play from mediocrity. Lack of hustle, lack of "in your face" excitement. Please don't tell me you haven't seen the confidence it makes for the team overall.

I don't know if our team is stock full of above average players or if we have more than our share of pro bowl talent....the lack of leadership from within and continually getting out coached tells me the players don't have a fair shot until that part changes. A great coaching staff and a scheme that puts the players you have in the best position to win would make a big difference. If you don't have the players you need to match the scheme you want to run then until you do change your scheme to fit the players you have.

I agree with the OP. This team lacks talent. It is clear that we still need to improve the offensive line. Hickey did a good job, but it nearly impossible to replace five starters and build depth. Maybe if Albert was not injured, but there just is not enough talent on the OL.

Once Jenkins was done, our lack of LB talent became even more obvious. Wheeler was abused all year long. Truss if failed again to play well enough.

Our lack of CB depth hurt us, and we do not have the players to push a talented OL.

That's why Philbin has to go. His passive attitude carries over to the game.

So you're saying we have the answer at Right Tackle today for instance? And Thomas was more than capable of handling that spot? Our LBs are as impactful as say, the Raven's corp? And the dropped passes was not technique based?

I am going to differ on this. I think we overachieved this season at times (but we also surprised teams with the 1st year offense and Tannehills improvement). The reason, and truth telling in level assessment for me, is all the close game losses against elite / playoff contender teams GB, Det, Den, and Bal, tell me we do not have the same level of talent in starters and depth chart. It tells me aren't far off, but we need to add another crop of better players, and a fresh start with a new DC perhaps.

NOOOOO.....I am not saying anything like that. I don't believe our opinions are that far apart, if at all.

I agree on some of the coaching. I'm really not sold on the DC - inconsistent and finesse; and I know it's not popular to say, but I think the OC can be 'off-and-on', perhaps needs more experience in game-planning and such - lot of costly slow starts this year, or they can't close out down the stretch.

We jump out to a 10-0 lead and then get outscored 28-3 starting with giving up a 90+ yard touchdown drive to end the half....I know it happens but you're right...we cannot close out the game....we hang in there or hang on and hope to win...terrible mind set.....It's hard to take week in and week out.
