I admit - I am OLD SCHOOL!

I watched Czonka run people over while my father used the rotary phone to order from milk delivery truck.

I watched Bob Griese and Shula surprise the league with winning records in the late 70's and literally make Burt Jones and OJ Simpson and company their B's. - When people like me had to wait until Wednesday or Thursday to find out the score of the Dolphins Monday night games if I could not stay up late enough to watch the whole thing - newspapers did not put scores or records into the paper until Wednesday if we were lucky.

I watched Wood-Strock and Nat Moore and Duriel Harris and the Killer Bee's play lights out - while eating in wonderment a hotdog from our own microwave oven.

I watched Marino as rookie come in late in a Raiders game for the first time - I was pissed at Shula for waiting until game 5 to let Marino play - Marino played an NFL record number of games in a row after that - all the while typing papers on Apple IIe home computer - and getting crushed because the thing would crash after writing a paper all night for school -

For roughly a generation now my dolphins have been the mangy, bad breathed dog, that I have kept around far too long. It has been pooping on the carpet - making a mess - I just couldn't bring myself to put them out of my misery.

Now I have witnessed 3 wins this season that have brought back the 1970's and 80's fire in me: NE, Chicago and SD.

This team has all the tools - and I am burning for them to go out and smash em - not take some 2nd tier posture that somehow with 8 games left that wildcard is enough!

Not living in that way folks - the Dolphins NEED to go out there and put the Bills and the Patriots down and take the AFC East Crown and give us a playoff bye and a shot at homefield throughout the playoffs!

Getting in is all that matters. Without that you have no shot. I don't care how it happens, just as long as it happens.

Hell, look what some teams have done with "just a wildcard" birth by peaking at the right time.

You mean that didn't happen to just me?

It's a tough road coming up. Next two teams are a matchup nightmare.

I believe we can win the division easily if we continue the level of play like the last five games, that being said I will be satisfied with a wild card. The playoffs are not as one sided as they were back in the day and I don't think having home field is as advantageous as it once was. Wildcard teams have as just as good shot as making a run as the #3 seed

Sometimes an 11-5 team gets a wildcard spot. Doesn't matter how Miami gets in, as long as they do.

I agree in principle - and there's no arguing - a slew of teams have gone the distance as wildcard teams of recent years.

But I stick to my guns - its not enough for me now.

I want something more - I bleed for it - I see red for it!

I want to see this team do to this league what they did to us last years of for all the years in the past 20 where we were robbed, mistreated. disrespected.

I turn white hot mad having to listen to f..ing tom brady on the radio before a Monday night game where he is not even playing in the game.

I KNOW Shula would have NEVER EVER EVER been second fiddle to those crooks up in NE - much rather stinking bozo almost winner Buffalo!

And he never was!

I can't take it anymore - Miami Get me pride back!

You're lucky that you got to witness the Dolphins as a respectful franchise! I completely agree that we need to win our division but with the patriots beating the broncos it really hurts our chances of catching up with them!

How so? If we win Sunday were only a game back and still get to play the Pats for a shot at a sweep and if we beat Buffalo the division is ours for the taking. I know there are a lot of games to be played but it is not that far fetched to catch the Pats.

We still control our destiny. Just win out and the division is ours.

I dont mind a wildcard berth, especially considering how many teams have won it all after backing into the playoffs. Teams that get hot at just the right time have knocked off far more talented teams quite often in recent history(see: Ravens over the Broncos, the Giants whenever Coughlin is on the "hot seat").

What i do not want is to get into the playoffs in a wildcard spot and get blown out. That was fine in 2008 when we were completely rebuilding the franchise. 6 years and a couple hundred million dollars spent later? I want a win. Thats the only thing thats going to convince me this team is legitimately moving forward.

That said, realistically i dont think we make the playoffs unless we win the division. The Bengals, Steelers, Ravens, Browns, Chargers, and Chiefs could all finish with equal or better records than us. Some of those teams have easier schedules than us going forward and that Bengals tie could easily cause a cluster**** in the rankings.

I am almost to where you are at OP..........almost.

There have been similar games like these in the past ten years or so that in the end have been a let down.

Although I am enjoying the growth of RT very much right now and think our defense is great, the game I am looking at as the one I will emotionally get behind (like back in the 80's and 90's for me personally) is BUFFALO.

I want to do what we did to San Diego, to them. I know we probably won't score as much due to their great defense and all that jazz but if we can just beat them and get that monkey off our backs (in my mind) then I will believe that this season is more than just another tease but rather a legitimate playoff season.

You kidding me? Give me a playoff berth in any shape, form or fashion and I'll do back flips.

Hard to predict the future, but if the Fins were a playoff team right now, they'd be a damn dangerous playoff team.

Fear the Fins.

We Dolphin fans are so destroyed - I was really just talking to myself - about how shattered I/we have been by so many bad coaches, regimes, teams, and so on that we don't have any skin left on our bodies.

So no I am not kidding.

I want this team to do what no Dolphin team has had the man power to do for 20 plus years - go make A SERIOUS run at this thing.

And get me my pride back in the meantime - go win the f...ing division like you mean it. Like every player on this team is Jarvis Landry!

Go fight like Bryan Cox did against a whole sideline in the name of Shula! Go out on the field and win a bunch of games while the prognosticators have their collective thumbs up their butts with their jackass predictions about how this team has no shot!
The NFL is ALL about WINNING the Superbowl.

Its not about making the Playoffs - of course a team can't make or win a superbowl without making the playoffs so that is step one in the process.

Dolphin fans have been so steam rolled, so blown to pieces, so obliterated by so many pathetic bad teams, coaches, draft choices, seasons that somehow the playoffs is enough.

The NFL is all about WINNING a Superbowl - so Miami NEEDS a bye week and at least one game at home to stack the odds in favor doing this.

Maybe against GB - and we can pay those F...ers back!
