Is it typical for positional coaches to attend the combine? I thought it was kind of weird he was going in the first place.

Alex takes pride in being first with the news. 10/10 for being first but 0/10 for accuracy.
This is a classic example of a reporter/tweeter trying to get more information by creating a hoax and waiting for it to be refuted.

Why is it so difficult to make a decision either way? Jesus Christ, people get fired every day, all around the world. Can the Dolphins just come out and make an announcement either way?

This team is so dysfunctional it's unreal.

The NFL likely informed the Dolphins to not have a formal reaction(fines/suspensions/firings) until after they have a formal reaction. The reason he probably wasn't fired yet, is because the NFL told the Dolphins to wait.
 
I want to see what Coach Benton can do with his new group of linemen. It is actually the best sign of hope for me for the upcoming season.

There might be a financial obligation by firing him out right. Whereas, if he's suspended first by the league then that Financial burned is alleviated. It's gonna happen

This is true

and how many times do companies have a press conference or a press release to announce this?

It's silly to expect them to rush to any decision or to release them via a press release. HR has a role to play in all hires and fires and they work with their Legal dept as well
