I thought I was the only one who was in shock at how bad our ST's have consistently been. We keep guys just for our coverage teams. We should be good on coverage because of that. Our return teams have been terrible for a very long time. Wes is decent on punt returns but is painful on kickoffs. Does anyone else cheer if we ever get across the 25 on a KO. Armstrong is a Wanny buddy. Remember when he fired Westhoff top hire his buddy Armstrong - boy that was a good move. I can only wonder why Saban has kept him other than the coverage team has been good. JJ used to say you have to win 2 of the 3 phases of the game. ST was ONE of the 3 and we rarely win it!

That's not true - you don't have to return for a TD to make an impact on ST. The other team scores points and you take the ball back to midfield - you just took some momentum back. You get stopped at your 20 and you created a long field. Our offense cannot score points right now - wouldn't it be nice to shorten the field for them? Our ST's and D have not scored points. Should that be expected - No - but the Vikes were down by a bunch in the 4th and their D came up with 2 scores to win the game! When is the last time our D or ST's scored for us? Look at KC awhile back with Hall - he changed the game a few times. I like Wes as our 3rd down WR but he does not have breakaway speed for our KO returns.

I totally agree dude. Special teams is about putting the offense & defense in a position to make something happen. Last weeks game was a good exampe of that. One blocked FG, one missed FG. Thats six points that we left on the field not to mention it fires up the defense. Punter drops the ball giving the Patsies good field position. Special teams is more than just getting an occasional long shot touchdown. But don't get me wrong, a punt return for a touchdown or KR for a TD can instantly suck the wind out of the opponent.

How about a punter who can hold on to the ball. What was wrong with Matt Turk, besides he didn't go to LSU. This post was way overdue we do nothing special on special teams.
