Everyone's down on Gus and now there are more and more posts complaining about Sage and Cleo. You guys never know how a player is going to play. Almost virtual unknowns who came in ended up playing great and went on as starters. Marino for Woodley, Young for Montana, Warner for Green, Brady for Bledsoe, White for Staubach, Morrell for Griese (although Morrell never got the starting job).

Hey guys, one never knows...

You know, I don't care for Gus Frerrotte, I think he's a second rate QB at best. I think he's fairly intelligent and might one day make a great QB coach, but a starter he's not. Our main issue though is not Frerrotte, it's the offensive line. The O line hasn't won the battle at the line of scrimmage...Ricky and Ronnie aren't consistently gaining tangible yards from scrimmage and as a result, Frerrote is being forced to make clutch throws from 3rd and long, which is not his forte. As a result, the offense isn't putting the points on the board that we need to win. Hudson Houck was brought in to upgrade the offensive line as he did in San Diego. Maybe it's going to take him a full season to get the line up to par. Scott Linehan was brought in from Minnesota with his explosive offense to put points on the board. Maybe that too will take him a full season to bring the offense up to par, but guys, our problems don't rest completely on Frerrotte. Miami had the greatest QB ever in Dan the Man and we still didn't get a Chamionship with him at the helm. Remember, football is a TEAM sport, the only true team sport left. If one player isn't playing well, you need to look around the rest of the team to see if it's him, or is his poor play a result of others poor playing also...Remember, like it or not, this season is a rebuilding season, so don't get your hopes up too high.

The point is your statement, Gus is second rate QB at best. Thats not getting down on him?
I'm not getting down on him. If you read through that whole quote, you'll see that I place the majority of his problem on the offensive line. I say he's a second rate QB because he's not the calibur of player that can win a game when it's placed on his shoulders. That's not getting down on him, that's just telling the truth. He could have a better season if the TEAM played better as a whole

I'm getting tired of this year in and year out. Gus Frerotte is fine by me. No QB will ever be good enough for these fans. I wanted to see Feeley start so bad, but it didn't work out. So now I support Gus Frerotte 110%. He's our starting QB. No one on our team is better than him.

I was targeting the opening sentence more than the entire post. I just want the fins to win, if its Gus its Gus. If coach Saban says Gus is the Guy i'm behind him, all the time. I'm not trying really to single you out, i liked your original post. Today its been one thread after another about how bad Gus sux. You Gus haters don't have to tell me, i know, don't read the threads if you don't like them. Thats pretty limiting...Sorry to highjack your post, again i really like your positive thinking idea, it would be refreshing.

I think our main issue is penalties.

Cut the penalties in half, then maybe we can sustain a drive.

Any given Sunday... I don't care if we win the Super Bowl or we are 4-12 again... I'm proud to be a Dol-Fan! And I spend the money and time on them to prove it! :rofl3:

See, now THAT is the attitude we need. Of course we all WANT to win tons of games, and the Super Bowl, but that takes time, the fact still remains that we are all FANS, meaning we shouldn't be bashing every little decision that is made, ESPECIALLY ones that we have no idea how the outcome will be (ie, the Lemon trade). I don't WANT to be 4-12 again, but even if we are I will still be a Diehard fan, next week, next year, next month, my whole life. Every team falls on hard times, name ONE team who has been SB contenders every single year of their existance? It sucks that our time is finally here to be the struggling team, or the "rebuilding" team, but we all secretly knew it was going to have to happen SOMEDAY, so it shouldn't be that big of a surprise. Hell, I personally thought this time would arrive the day Marino retired, but we managed to keep posting respectable seasons after him, up until last year.

How true, but Gus, or any other starter or that matter will take the rap, apparently.

Maybe no one really knows yet...but Woodley was a poor qb and Marino as a rook played better than he did...Young/Montana...Young was a decent QB before coming to SF and then sat behind Montana for a few...Warner was an unknown but Warner has also proven to be a system QB..good only with the Vermiel/Martz O...White ?? Are you kidding...mediocre backup at best...nice guy, ok player, but not in the bracket of any of these guys....Morrell/Griese...like Rothlisberger...came into a great situation with a tremendous running offense and great defense...neither (Roth or Morrell) could do it on their own...

Your examples are a bit curious..I don't entirely dissagree with your point...We just don't know about Lemon, but his history tells us he might be a decent backup once he learns the system..but he won't be helping us this year...if he does get some time...whoa....it might be another 4-12 season...
