Just an opinion...
but i think re-signing Carey was the best move...followed possibly by Bell.
If Crowder got 6 million a year...then I would openly wonder why Bart Scott isn't here. Gibril Wilson got dumped just a week ago and we open the bank for him...
I know Parcells and company are not here to please the fan base just to win games...but I am failing to see where the 18 new contributors are going to come from.

barely 12 hours into it, you might not be thrilled. but you wouldnt be to happy if we were overpaying for players left and right. remember when wanstandt and spielmann were here, we were always big players in FA, look how that turned out.

What would you have been thrilled with? Who did you want us to sign?

Gabril Wilson led the Raiders in tackles with 129 last year and was only cut because of cap as reported all over NFLN and ESPN and was a great pick-up and steal in almost everyones opinion. Yeremiah (for whom the BELL tolls) is a hard hitting tackling machine that led us in tackles last year. That is 2 teams leading tacklers locked up for 4+years. And what do you mean 18 new contributors? We have HB/TE/DE/S/P/K/QB/OT's/G's/ 3 of 4 WR's/ and staring DT all locked up. We only need a 1 CB, a back-up DT, maybe a C and WR. We have 3 day 1 picks and plenty of day 2 picks for depth.

I am complete opposite. I've had such a great week hearing all that miami has been doing... loving work and talking aboot it non-stop.

Definitely agree Carey was the hugest re-signing!!!
Yeremiah Bell was important, he was a huge impact and important piece of our secondary.... blad both these guys decided to stick around instead of going FA.

Channing Crowder i feel is important to come back here too. Though yes not a huge playmaker and imposing ILB to get into the backfield, he is a very solid ILB that makes his tackles and fills his holes well. very controlled player that i like to have, and i love that he decided to stay. great article on why and how he changed his mind, dropped his asking price, and signed back with us!!! LOVED IT!!!

having these guys back that was a core of our team, keep it more unified as well as showing such respect and love towards the coaching staff.... gotta be proud on that!!!

now Gibril Wilson got dumper cause Oakland is stupid... they messed up again and again and i am used to seeingt hem dumping everyone. He is a great safety that can tackle too and make some plays on the ball. we needed help back there, and i lvoed the signing cause we are going to have n aggressive secondary with him. maybe he can help bring that superbowl energy that he had during the Giants year of 2007!!!

then throw in the Cam Wake signing a while ago.... man i am LOVING this all. great job, lots of talent and possabilities coming in and coming back... lets start these guys working off-season now!!! get them ready!!!
BANE IS HAPPY!!!

why?? maybe we should go madden style and just sign everyone. Calm down buddy it will work it self out. In my opinion we done a pretty good job. We didn't sign any huge names last year and it turned out fine, hell one of the biggest names we did sign was a damn bust

I wanted a couple of guys, but the trifecta aren't overpaying, which I totaly agree with, and they know what they're doing so, i'm very satisfied.

Exactly. I'm thrilled with the way Free Agency has went so far. We are waiting patiently so we don't end up overpaying for players. Look at Washington, I'm glad we didn't sign Haynesworth to $100M. They stopped having Free agents go over and had to cut Shawn Springs on top of that....

The longer we wait, the lower the players demands....and to be honest, Jason Brown is probably the only FA I would consider throwing out money to at this point.

Nonetheless I would also, like to take a look at Keith Brooking, but lets let the overpriced players sign first.

Gotta love what the trifecta has done thus far.....they jumped on Gibril as soon as he was available because it was a position of need.

Im thrilled your not running the team, do you believe in continuity? We signed 3 out 4 of our major free agents and brought in Gibril Wilson, which probably makes the best safety tandem. The only thing I hope for is to add Coles or possibly Harrison, a corner or resign Goodman and call it a day. Build the rest through draft.

I have no problem with the three signings, although they may have overpaid for Gibril Wilson, but a better secondary means that it gives the defensive line more opportunity to disrupt the quarterback and more blitz packages. Not sure about the Dolphins sniffing around Joe Berger, especially given his injury history.

Gibril is the #8th most overrated player according

to RealScouts...and I have heard KC Joyner from ESPN clearly question the move for a one dimensional safety. Jason Brown would have made me happy. So would have Bart Scott instead of Crowder. That being said, I'll wait to see what else they do. They still only draft #25 in this draft...don't expect too much of an immediate impact or for a rookie center to come in and dominate.

Lets face it guys the Raiders are a crazy organisation run by an egotist. When they signed Wilson and Hall last year, they expected there defence to turn around overnight. They entire team is dreadful. Their response to a bad year defensively?...to drop two of the best secondary players!! The place is like a merry-go-round.

I would in no way hold Wilsons play as the reason for him being released. He is a good player and is a great upgrade at FS for us (younger too).

no worries here folks. anyone who has been at this site for a long time knows that threads like this are a formality on the first couple days of free agency.

Just like on draft day there will be similar threads related to why/who we didn't pick.
