Not to continue to bag on AJ, but if at the end of preseason...

He played halfway decent in philly , but lets remember the next season Andy Reid did put Koy Detmer ahead of AJ Feeley on the depth chart, and Andy Reid is a top 10 coach.

AJ's in the process of earning that, you have to start somewhere and he's starting to learn this O, like you would want ppl to give you sometime to adjust to something new, be nice enough to allow AJ the same. :D
By Dan's 4th season, he had earned it 10X over. So technically, AJ has already been allowed "the same".

Not really because by Dan's 4th year he had played over 50 games, where as AJ has only played 12 or 13. This year will definitely be his last chance to earn it though I'm sure.

Well the thing is, does Berlin really HAVE to look that much better than Feeley to warrant keeping Berlin over him? Feeley is 28 and makes a helluva lot more money than Berlin. FEELEY should HAVE to look a lot better than BERLIN for us to keep Feeley.

Great point! Dan earned more on his first day of camp than AJ has in 4 years in the league. I can't believe some of you are comparing AJ to Dan! Wow!

feeley isn't making that much as of this moment. he's making 550K, so he'll be here. next year he gets a big contract hike, so march 1, 2006 is when the decision on feeley's future will be made. berlin's best chance is ps. he has a distant shot of beating sage out, but that is very unlikely.

I hate when AJ has a bad day, the people who don't like him light up the board like a xmas tree, it's mini camp, yesterday it was Gus missing receivers, I don't remember a whole thread dedicated to the subject...Guys give them time..

AJ is supposed to be perfect on every play. He was supposed to make the Pro Bowl with no line, running game or system in place last year and should already know Linehan's system by now as it is the only one he's ever had to learn.

Its just embarrassing that after what Feeley went through last year he's treated the way Fiedler should have been after two years in Miami.

I agree, there seems to be such a rush to judgement by some here. I read a thread about how much time Saban gets this morning.....give me a break.

AJ deserves at least training camp and pre-season before we start getting overly concerned about him.

It isnt AJs fault that we gave up to much for him. Hate Spielman and Wanny, but give AJ a chance

He's had his chance. I think another few games would give us a definate clear answer on AJ, but I dont believe in the "scumbag" philosophy of giving him the nod even if someone else is outplaying him. Basically, I dont' care what they gave up for him. If Gus is playing better than him, than I start gus. Or even Sage for that matter. IF SAGE is playing best he gets the start from me. I could care less about trying to justify someone else's mistakes. AJ's not getting a free pass and I'm glad Saban acknowledges that.

In my opinon, it could easily be GUS, AJ, BERLIN.....Sage to PS....

I have been an AJ Feeley fan since last season. I know that he has a lot of growing to do and definitely has a lot to learn, however, he has the one intangible that is lacking by many professional athletes:

He wants to lay it on the line for his team every outing.

Come on guys, was nobody impressed when he was getting drilled every second play but still trying every play? I was never more impressed when he was limping around in and out of the huddle but not giving up. Heck, he even beat the Pats.

I sincerely hope that AJ becomes a good starter for Miami. I think he has paid his dues last season and deserves the first shot.

By no means am I saying that I know this will happen but just that I hope as I am a fan. If he does not cut it then I will be the first to call for his head…. lol.

In a year of disappointments, losses, and without much to cheer for AJ game me a reason to get excited and it wasn’t necessarily about his play but about his hear or desire. Give the man an Oline and a RB or two and lets see what he can do.

I'm sorry but this is a bad statement!!! No Chance????? Come on....... do you honestly believe Saban is going to just ink Feeley in as a starter, or even the 2nd stringer if he is clearly being outperfomed by the likes of Rosenfels or Berlin??? Remember what Saban said....... It's an OPEN competition......."OPEN" meaning it's anybody's job to win, and/or lose. It is indeed Possible AJ is cut before the season starts, it's not very probable at all, but it is "Possible"

It's naive to think that Berlin will even make the roster let alone have him beat out feeley for the roster spot. It amazes me how much people put into these minicamps... these practices truely mean nothing as far as performance. Everyone is still learning the systems and from a quarterback percpective its all about timing and these things take time. There is still plenty of time for him to get into the groove by training camp. I know that he worked with these recievers last year but he is virtually starting at square one because now the receivers are running completely different routes therefore the timing will be off.

What the heck has Berlin done? yeah and i know im gonna get the "what the heck has Feeley done?" buts its too early to judge yet. way too early.
What if what the people who have seen him this weekend have said turns out to be true and A.J. ends up not picking things up after these camps and four exhibitions, does anyone have a problem with Saban if he decided to keep as his QBs...

1) Frerotte
2) Rosenfels
3) Berlin

if they ACTUALLY have looked better than A.J. Feeley? In short, does anyone have a problem with Nick Saban sending the message again that he's in charge and letting go of a guy who we gave up a second round pick for? He'd basically be saying that 1) It's my team and I'll make the decisions that are best for the Miami Dolphins and I'll decide who our best players are. And 2) The Feeley for a 2nd round pick decision was indeed a terrible one that I'm cutting ties with right now rather than continue to add any credibility to the move that took place before I got here.

I'd actually be OK with it if A.J. (a pro for many years now) can't outperform a college QB who's just gotten here and had a dubious career at UM. If Berlin would actually look better than AJ, then don't you have an obligation to the squad as the coach to keep who you feel are your best three QBs even if it means flushing a 2nd rounder (which many felt had been done two years ago anyway)? I'm hoping that a light comes on for A.J. and he proves to be one of our two best QBs by the beginning of the season, as I think it makes our team stronger, but if he's not, what's wrong with Nick saying "enough is enough, the last guys screwed up and I'm correcting the decision right now"?
I don't think it's even a remote possibility that Berlin is better than Feeley.

I'm a Cane fan too so this is not anti Cane bias, Berlin just sucks.
There's a reason Rosenfels has never really contended for the starting QB job here too. Think about it. Rosenfels was a backup to the worst QB stable in the league yet never threatened to take the job.

Frerrote may win the job but no way do they cut Feeley or demote him to 3rd string.
