I don't mean to look too deeply into this, but the Sean Smith / Jason Allen illness thing seems a bit a weird to me. I know the official story is they were sick and were held out of the preseason game vs. Carolina. At the time there was a scare that it might be swine flu, so precautions were taken to keep them separated from the team.
Then we found out yesterday in practice that they were pretty much ok, and that the illness a) wasn't swine flu and b) was pretty minor.
Now if you watch their interviews on Aquavision from yesterday, they are pretty dancy when asked about it. Jason Allen almost makes it sound like he was held out without even being sick, saying he didn't really have any symptoms.
It almost seems like they were held out for a different reason, which is between them and Sparano. I wonder if it was disciplinary action for something? Maybe twittering?
Coupled with the Matt Roth "illness/injury" thing, it makes you sort of wonder if illness/inury is being used as a cover for something else. Not that it really matters or affects much of anything - quite frankly, this regime can be as secretive as it wants as far as I care. It just made me wonder...
