Quinn, who wound up with the Browns after being passed over by several other teams in the first round of the NFL draft, showed some offseason rust during passing drills. It was the first time he had worked out in a team environment since Notre Dame's appearance in the Sugar Bowl in January.

The 6-foot-3, 232-pounder made some crisp, short throws. He also had a few wobblers, one bad one that caught in the wind and flattened.

"It's been awhile," he said. "There's always room for improvement."

I had a feeling, from the day that I saw he was climbing draft boards, that he would become an NFL blunder. I cannot say what made me feel that way, and I am not making this up because Miami passed over him at #9.

Only time will tell wether I am correct or not.

Sounds like the same appraisal Cam and the media have given Beck this weekend. As the ancient taoist proverb goes: "No throw stick in glass house"

"[Brady] Quinn threw consecutive balls into a brisk wind that could be described charitably as wounded ducks. Each ball looked to hit a brick wall in midair and plummet, one far short of the intended and uncovered receiver. Quinn compensated on the next pass and overthrew a receiver.''
-- Cleveland Plain Dealer veteran Browns beat writer Tony Grossi, observing Brady Quinn's first mini-camp practice Friday in Berea, Ohio.
Taken from Peter King's MMQB

Is it wrong that I smile when I hear about him sucking and get really excited that maybe Cam and Randy know what the hell they're doing and that everyone can shut up haha

LUNCHBOX: it is WAY to soon to see which qb sux or doesnt.

and it also apears that you didnt read to many of the things writen about becks camp this weekend. threw more than a couple pics [one came back for a score] and MANY missed throws.

let the game clock expire a couple times because he was so confused.

hoping is one thing [and i am hoping beck is it] but reality is another.

do mueller and can know what there doing? beck sure didnt show anything this weekend to confirm that.

i would hold some of that laughter down for a while.

Sounds like jealousy. Even though you are playing the card that brady was so overrated into top 10 and should play lights out from day 1 i disagree.I can argue the other coin that he is going to be a good QB to be picked in a late first round. In late first its lucky you end up with a no 2 rated QB .

The last 2nd rounder Qb who was successfull was brees 10 yrs ago.It took brees 3 yrs to win.The last first rounder QB selected second to have a good season was arizonas matt leinhart.[vince was first] .look for leinhart to perform better.

% of a Successfull QB - round 1 - 47%
% --------------------round 2 - 8%

To be fair, Beck didn't look that good either. I think it's going to be a month or two before we see anything worth watching from any of the QB's taken. It's just a high profile, high pressure position and the littlest mistakes are always scrutinized. I don't think we're gonna know if we made a mistake with Quinn this year.

There is no way anybody can tell who is going to be the better NFL QB by over analyzing a couple of missed throws by both QBs at mini camp.

This arguement is as ridiculous as the way where the fans say Ginn is too frail to succeed in the NFL, as if it's impossible for him to put any muscle on.

Quinn will get better as time progresses, just like Beck

Quinn off to slow start!

I dont know about you guys, but reading Peter King's Monday Morning QB article today made me feel a lot better about our QB sitation. He also goes on to talk about how it appears that Quinn was a lot closer to the Becks, Stantons, and Kolbs, then he was to Russell.

There is also some good Trent Green trade news in the article. A good read...
