but Ricky is a terrible role model. His basically saying to all kids/teenages that you can do whatever you what(even drugs and quitting on your team), but as long as your a great football player nobody will care. Is this a massage we won't sent to our kids?:shakeno:
Note:this has nothing to do with Ricky as a football player(he is an amazing football player)

Yeah he's beyond human...more like a god actually who fell off his pedestal. I don't remember him asking to be a roll model. I think it's up the parents to explain Ricky's decisions and enforce their own thoughts into their kids rather then relying on sports figures to do that. I guess if your children made a mistake you'd never let them live it down either huh?? Good grief people get a life!!!

I, uhh...dont remember him ever signing up to be a role model.

Your not understanding me. Kids look to sports figures. Its a fact. Are these the kind of people you want your kids looking up to?:shakeno:

Or maby he proves that if you make a mistake and admit it, apologise for it, and work very hard that you can rebuild your life. There are actually quite a few good lessons you can take from his life.

1) if he wins us games who cares
2) is ricky really all that bad? his philosophy has been to do what makes him happy. The reason he left last year was to seek out happiness and now he is apparently happy in his life. That message isnt so bad. Plus he has said he quit smoking and he doesnt showboat on the field or talk trash like most players in this league. I think you're overreacting.

u dont have to sign up to do that. u could choose to do it if he wanted.

If Ricky is so bad in your eyes, Terrell Owens must be the devil.

That uhh..makes no sense.

Athletes are not role models. Anyone who attempts to use atheletes as role models in most cases is making a serious lapse of judgement. They're not. They are guys who are high profile not because of their personalities, not because they are good people, not because they do good things. Because they collide into one another and produce good results while doing it in a sport. That's it. Dont project things on them.

This is the kind of thing I'm talking about. Do you really want players into coming the NFL thinking they can do anything they want as long as they win on the football field?

Like Saban said "Give your kids a chance"

People make mistakes, forgive but don't forget...
