When it was originally announced that Miami would be the subject of this year's Hard Knocks I was skeptical of the team's motivation. Why would you subject you team to that kind of intrusive scrutinization.

However, somewhere in the middle of the premiere last night it hit me. Miami has earned a reputation over the last decade of being a poorly run organization and alleged that numerous free agent and coaching coaching prospects have gone elsewhere for that very reason. As Peyton Manning put it in the off season "Miami is a nice place to visit, but you don't play there." (Excuse me but FU PM, FU)

Anyway, after seeing what I saw last night, Hard Knocks may help change that perception. It will help Miami will show the rest of the NFL that the Dolphins are, in fact, a very well run organization. Instead of quality players shying away from us, or negotiating with us merely to drive up offers from competing suitors, quality players may actually WANT to sign with Miami because they can see it is a well run organization.

At least, that's my take on their thinking.

It's part of the general image rehab they're trying to do. I think they will look like a class organization, a hardworking team with an excellent coaching staff and an at times bumbling front office (Ireland/Aponte/Ross) depending on what the cameras capture.

I do think it's a good thing, and hey, it is kind of invigorating for the fanbase. Add it to a potential winning season with lots of promising young players and you can literally feel the winds changing.

Hell, hopefully it convince some folks on this very website that we do infact have competent people in the FO.

My wife from Toronto said the same as PM but it wasn't about the team but the location of the stadium and crime and raising kids - and me thinks PM was saying about the same - so don't take it to heart

Competence will only be proven by results, not a TV show. But what the show will do is combat some of the hyperbole that has taken root. Though I'm more confident than ever that Dawn Aponte adds baby's blood to her morning protein shake.

it's just nice to know what's going on with our team for once.
this team has been hiding in a bunker ever since Saban.

I see the up side too of Hard Knocks! It's going to be a long season for our Fins. I hate to be the first to say it. Jake Long, Vonte Davis and many others are out of shape! Jake Long was a beast his rookie year, now he looks like a cupcake. I hate it when you're a highly paid athlete and your drive has gone to ****.

With all due respect, I disagree. If So Fla sucked so bad, then why does PM have a house there and spend his offseasons there? I was born and raised in South Florida and the situation down there is NOWHERE NEAR what you and your wife apparently think it is. Even if it was (which it isn't) PM has enough money to insulate his entire life from the negative aspects of any location. Gated communities, limosines and private schools...

On top of that, location of the stadium is FAR safer than it was when we played at the OB. But who lives near the stadium anyway?

Dan Marino went to the same church as I did when we lived in Weston. Alot of the players live in Weston/Davie/The Gables, etc....

I'm 100% positive crime and raising his kids here had 0 to do with his decision.

At the end of the day, it was a very good move as long as we don't end up with a top ten draft pick in 2013.

I thought it could be a distraction because the local media might bombard the players with asinine questions & abject negativity. :err:

I remember going to see Guns & Roses on new Years back when that stadium was relatively new. It was not the best area to be around. It is nicer now.

Oh that's going to happen for sure. I think Parcells had half of the right approach. Instead of stuffing the team into a bunker, he simply needed to stuff the local media in a bunker and throw away the key.

What were you watching Jake looked fine actually looked more thank good after last year. He's a leader on that line and he is showing it. As for Vonte WTF actually I think the guy is dumb... He couldn't think of the word actor or acting... And again we see his sorry butt out of shape out of breathe. No wonder he is on the second string now.
