Does Wes Welker become the missing #1 receiver that we desperately need?

LOL. :lol: No offense - I love Welker.

But that is just hilarious. Welker will never be the #1 receiver for Miami. He is good at the #3 spot, but would be even better if he could strictly handle kicks and punts. Miami needs to bring in a new #3 WR to compete with Booker for the #2 slot.

IMO, Welker should be the #4 WR next season, and focus on kicks and punts 110%.

wes welker as a number 1? are you serious? or you havent been watching what chris chambers did this season

chambers still drops to many. i'm not saying hes a bad number one. just saying thats something he needs to work on.

I just can't agree with "he drops too many balls", every receiver drops the ball and no 1 receiver has caught every ball that has come his way.

When I watch other teams games I see their #1 receivers dropping the ball just as much as CC does if not more, he just drops the easy ones instead of the hard ones, I would definitely like him to catch hard 30yd passes than substitute that for easy 5 yarders.

Well I hope not. I mean, afterall, he DID MAKE THE PROBOWL!

I think Wes could develop into a really solid #3 guy, but as much as I like the guy I don't see him as a starting receiver - much less a #1.

But then again, I can't see into the future, and nobody in the NFL pays me for my opinion - which means my opinion is probably about worth what I'm being paid for it.

Chambers is fine at number one. We need a number two to compliment him. I am happy with Booker, but wouldn't mind upgrading and having Booker as the third.

Welker is a Kevin Curtis type of player. I don't ever see him being a solid starting receiver. But he always manages to come in on the clutch on 3/4 receiver sets and make plays. He is a number three and four guy.

You guys missed the sarcasm on this one..........

Wheeeeee-------> Right over the head.

This is a joke right ?? Welker a #1 ?? He's really not good enough to be our #3...He's a nice role player, but not much at all.. He doesn't have burner speed nor is a big possession reciever...he's mediocre at best as a reciever...I believe he plays an important role on the special teams and should keep him around, but there is no way that he can be confused with a #1 or #2 reciever...he's our #3 due to lack of any better talent at the position...

Truthfully I think that Culpepper coming in here does make Welker more important. Welker is pretty fast and will be a threat as a deep threat coming out of the slot. If he gets matched up with a LB or a slower saftey, you could start counting 6 every time.

I think he will be similar to a Stokley with Peyton, they have such good WR on both sides that Stokley is usually matched up with a LB or S, when the saftey comes up to cover him one of the WR is open down field.

Hopefully it works out. Saban wouldn't have let him play that #3 last year if he didn't see some kind of potential.

Welker is a SOLID number four option, about as solid as you can get as far as explosion and game breaking abilitys. However he is no where near a number one and if he is ever number two we will be in some trouble. He could make a case for third but there are better options
