Who would you expect a vet to outcompete?
Anyone in our top 4? Allen, Smith, Davis, Jones? I could see it being a good idea in case Vontae doesn't get it together, but I think the coaching staff probably has a good handle on what he needs, and what the team needs as a result.
J.Allen is a pretty good special teams contributor and it seems like that's what he'll be again as the fifth DB...doubtful any of the old vets would be good STers.

They have already contacted Mike McKenzie to gauge his interest so he would probably be the first one they bring in. However, at this point there really is no hurry as long as Smith keeps performing the way he did on Monday.

For sure, but that's what we gotta live with. My point was just that the contributions of your 4th/5th DB are mostly going to be on ST anyways so unless you feel like you can significantly upgrade 1, 2, 3 it might not be worth it.
