Here are the coaches that have been hired (in no particular order)
How do you guys rank our choice of Gase now? I am especially interested to know what you guys think compared to the other hires so far and not to everyone that was potentially available. Do you think we got any advantage by striking first? Or would you have rather had one of the other coaches that got new jobs?

* Chip Kelly / 49rs
* Adam Gase / Dolphins
* Hue Jackson / Browns
* Dirk Kotter / Bucs
* Ben McAdoo / Giants
* Doug Pederson / Eagles
* Unresolved / Titans

Honestly looking at that list, I feel better about who the FO chose. Gase was obviously the top choice for a few of those other teams and the fact he wanted to coach here makes it even better. I'm happy with the hire. Young kid with a bright/smart mind. What better way to build a franchise than with a young coach.

I'm more comfortable and happy with this hire compared to when they hired Philbin, which I hated with a passion.

To me it is truly odd how the chips have fallen.

Earlier in the process I ranked my top 4 as follows: Tom Coughlin, Hue Jackson, Mike Shanahan, Adam Gase.

Tennessee is still unresolved, but I still think in some bizarro world fashion it is oddly strange that Miami and Cleveland ended up with the two best (available) guys. If the non-football upper power structure doesn't completely obstruct Hue in Cleveland, he has a shot of building a strong foundation there - bringing order to a pit of chaos (and factory of sadness) that has been a wart on the shores of Lake Erie for 17 years now.

I wouldn't be surprised if Chip Kelly is another one-and-done in San Francisco just like Tomsula was. That organization is a mess. Chip Kelly and his "tempo" playbook have been found out - if he doesn't turn to another offense, he's toast.
Odd choice by Philadelphia too by hiring Doug Pederson of all people, when names like Jon Gruden (if the rumor mill is to be believed) and Sean McDermott were hot names in that search. Gase also turned down the Philadelphia job to come to Miami.

We'll see about Tampa Bay and the Giants. I think Koetter was promoted in TB as a safety net - to coddle Jaemis Winston, but who really knows.

I would have preferred Hue.. but in hindsight, getting to know more about Gase and seeing who he's been hiring, IMO, he's the best consolation prize of all those who got hired.

Wasnt everyone saying we needed an experienced HC and the only one with real experience that got hired was Chip Kelly?
(Hue Jackson barely qualifies as an experienced HC)

After I had a few days to sit back and Assess yes it was the best choice bar none.

Jury is still out for all of those coaches. For Gase, let's see if he can finish above .500 once in 4 years. If he can, he'd already have bested Philbin.

Who knows how Gase will turn out, but he was definitely considered the top candidate by a few teams. I also like the fact that he just may be smart enough offensively to match-up against Bellicheck. That's important. We've had those coaches who run the same plays over and over again and don't make creative game plans. That's too easy for a coach like Bellicheck.

I was surprised that SF didn't hire Mike Shanahan. That seemed like an obvious choice for them.

We made the best move. Only qualm is we didn't pursue Sean McDermott.

I was a huge fan of Gase and wanted him over Hue Jackson but would have taken Shanahan over the two of them. Now that everyone passed on Shanahan and hearing most of the coaches he wanted were already with other teams and may have been difficult to get I'm thrilled with Gase.

We should have waited one damn day for the Bengals to exit the playoffs and then we should have taken Jackson. Gase is a huge mistake. Get ready for more of the same flavor of offense we saw last year...go watch a few Bears games...

Saw this quote from Gase on ESPN and although I have been and will be in wait and see mode with Gase I have to admit that this gets a double Sparano fist pump out of me!

If nothing else, Gase has a blind belief in his ability to lead. In one of his many job interviews over the last two years, Gase was asked by one executive if he knew his personal record against Dan Quinn, the Seattle defensive coordinator who became the head coach in Atlanta. "It's 0-2," Gase responded, "and I'm going to tell you something right now: He's never going to f---ing beat me again."
