With the signing of Deke Cooper do you think this means we will look at another position at # 16. I love the secondary guys who may be available at that time but this may have us lean towards either LB or OL...Personally right now I'd like Justice or Sims with the 1st pick and the CB from Fresno St in the 3rd-(I think Marshall) or Jennings from Mia if he's still there

Or go Pitner Williams Cromartie or Hill in the 1st and go either Whitworth or other O-line or LB in 3rd.

I think the 1st is the bigger possibility

Thoughts?

I think we'll go either LB or WR. Nick may even trade out of the 16th spot to pick up more draft picks.:cooldude:

You have been a member long enough to know that this thread should be posted in the Draft forum.

my mistake...mods pls move to draft forum...hey its still ealry in the morning!

anyways, WR is another option i forgot to mention...I like Jackson over Holmes and think that would give us a great arsenal of Wideouts

To the Draft Forum, probabaly.

Oh, wait.

Probabaly BPA.

Justice is probably out of reach now after his great workout this past weekend. Rumor is some teams have him rated higher than D'Brick. As far as the Fins are concerned, I'd like to see a trade down or BPA.

Depending how far we trade down(if we do), I'd like to see Donte Whitner, Ko Simpson, Bobby Carpenter, Jonathan Joseph, or Nick Mangold.

We still could possibily draft a guy like Jimmy Williams because Saban might sign these guys to compete and some may end up getting cut (Mario Edwards). But if we don't get Arrington, i like Greenway or Sims. Or we could trade down and get Sincore Moss or Santonio Holmes.

I still dont think anything has changed...I say we grab the best Corner or Safety in the draft.

LB

If we don't sign Arrington, which looks like the case, we have to go LB.

I don't think that we don't now draft a S or CB because we signed Deke Cooper...............could you imagine how bad we would all laugh at a Jets or Bills fan if they said, "we don't need a safety, we got Deke Cooper".

I'm not saying that we will draft a S, because who knows how Saban has any of the palyers ranked......but I don't think that this signing has ANY affect on who we will draft.

let's look at spot 16 monetarily. last years 16th pick was DL Johnson by the Texans and he got paid roughly 1.8 mill against their cap for last season, mostly in pro-rated bonus money.

we already have Chambers and Booker counting 10 mill agaisnt the cap as WRs, to add a 3rd or 4th WR at around 1.8 mill sounds like a little much to me.

now are we willing to pay a 4th CB, playing behind Allen, Daniels and Poole a 1.8 mill contract? I doubt that as well.

how about LB - Ernie Sims, Greenway or Lawson? any of them could be and most liekly would be on the field for special temas and for some defensive snaps and provide more than adequate backup and relief to the starting LB crew. so we could go here.

OL - 1.8 mill for a backup OL that can't really help much on special teams, doubt it.

therefore, at this time, I think we are going LB and hope to see Ernie Sims' name announced as a 'Phin unless we trade down which would change everything as costs would go down as well.

One problem... Ernie Sims only fits at weakside linebacker. Do you want him to start over Crowder?

Well, two problems actually. Considering #16 only for immediate impact is shortsighted.
