Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald writes that

"Some Dolphins players believe Ted Ginn will play more receiver as a rookie than coach Cam Cameron suggests publicly. Derek Hagan will begin camp as the No. 3 receiver (provided Marty Booker is still here), but Ginn could challenge. . . . Several have been impressed by rookie QB John Beck's intelligence, maturity and quick release. . . . Concerns persist about Jason Allen, who was beaten several times at cornerback in the final minicamp, and one starter wonders whether his physical style might be better suited to safety, where he played last year."

The statement about Allen only increases my concerns about the DBs. Let's see what happens in pre-season, but I believe that DBs could bring us more headaches than the OL this year.

we should have left Allen at safety, he should get better. I have never liked his instincts at cornerback. Too many got caught up in his 40 time. In time he could be a good safety. I never liked his pick but there is some talent there. My dissatisfaction was never with his talent, I just think there were much better players on the board when we drafted him.

As a corner I do not think he will be anything more than an AVG Nickle Back. As a Safety with time I think he could have became a Good Safety at worst, but had a much better chance to become better in that position

Agreed. Although I would have rather still taken Manny Lawson or Marcus McNeill at that spot.

I wanted Mcneil or Justice but just got flamed when I said there were better picks than Allen

What can you do? Saban could do no wrong for us back then. Justice has a pretty nice deal in Philly. Sit behind Willam (Tra) Thomas for a few more seasons and step into a nice O-line. McNeill is just a beast.

Im starting to really like what Im reading about this years rookie class. Its also starting to sound like Sabna really screwed up last years pick. Seems like we have no luck with player from Tennessee first Eddie Moore and now Allen and look how Meachem has started his rookie campaign. I think it is best if we stay away from that college.

I didnt even know who he was when we picked him. But I liked the fact that he could play both safety and Corner. We will see how he pans out I guess

Good news about Ginn. Everything I read on him just keeps proving how good of a pick he actually was.

Anyone else have the feeling that Cam is trying to lower our expectations on Ginn? I guess he is doing that as to provide a chance for Ginn to over-exceed. As Homer Simpson always said if you can't achieve you goals then get new goals that are easier to achieve.

I completely agree about the Jason Allen comment. I think his size and speed could make him an elite player at the FS position, but his instincts and speed aren't up to snuff with what you expect from a CB. Good news about the Ginn and Beck comments though. Strange to think that Saban's boy is failing and Cam & Randy's draft picks are showing more promise.

i wanted MANNY LAWSON soooooooo much ,,,, hes going to be elite in 1 more year , hes a beast , sometimes y just wonder if any of us coluld be a scout , we really (sometimes) know what we are sayng

It's the same starting cast as last year, only they've got a seasons under their belts together. They looked good last year as soon as Tillman was pulled for bell.

jason allen will never see the light of day at cb, he was and will be a bust

I honestly think the only other player we would've drafted besides Jason Allen, was Antonio Cromartie .... I wasn't huge on the Allen pick, but I dont think we passed up on anything big.... Not like Jamar Fletcher over Drew Brees ..
