Pennington has thrown 31 completions of 20+ yards, good for 7th in the NFL.

He's also thrown 6 completions of 40+ yards, which ties him for 11th in the league with strong-armed QBs Jay Cutler, Ben Roethlisberger and Joe Flacco.

I'm still a little concerned about his ability to throw downfield in bad weather, but thus far, he has completely debunked his "noodle arm" and "dink and dunk" reputation by throwing plenty of impressive 10-25 yard strikes as well as a handful of pinpoint deep throws.

He said in an interview a while back that he and his trainer have been working out his arm/shoulder. So, it apparently shows.

Old noodle arm puts the ball in a good position for players to run after the catch, which somewhat inflates his long pass numbers. I like the job he has done but he definitely isn't a long ball QB.

I'd take him over someone like Culpepper any day (just thought I'd throw that out there).

:-)

Now that's what I like to hear so the penny haters can stop complaining. You can't argue against the stats so now Ginn is our deep threat and Chad can get it to him. If his arm is coming along I can't wait to see him next year. I love the fact that we have one of the smartest guys in the game as our QB. I feel a heck of a lot more comfortable with him back there than Henne. I don't want to even think of what our record would be this year with that inexperience making game saving drives against the Raiders, Seahawks, those crucial drives against Denver and Buffalo, and helping get the win against San Diego. Let Henne sit next year and depending on how we do maybe even the year after.

phanatical is right chad makes some real nice throws that allows for players to get some yac. He has made some nice throws downfield but he still isnt a guy that will continuilly test you deep. But with that being said it shows how overrated a real strong arm is in this league, its all about ball placement and accuracy as well as being smart, big arms are good but ill take a guy like chad all day.

and even with these FACTS some posters on here will erroneously and idiotically continue to call him noodle arm and argue he has no arm strength. Granted he cant throw downfield 30 times a game, but he is good for some deep throws a game, more than most give him credit for

His arm is strong enough to win games, period.

Pennington's arm strength is a non-issue for people who are knowledgeable about football.

If he had a stronger arm, the WR would have more YAC when catching the intermediate completions cuz Penningtons throws take a while to get there.

Everyone wants to give Pennington all the credit for the passing game but I truly do believe that the offensive play calling is the true reason for success in the passing game. You can see Pennington throwing his lolly pops and even with as long as the ball takes to get there, it's still a completion. Some would say it's the WR creating the seperation or some would say that the offensive playcalling is creating confusion among the opponents defensive backfield.

Pennington wasn't the only passing game addition this off-season. Might want to look a little more in the direction of Henning.

Pennington is one of the biggest reasons we are still in this and the main reason we were in it on sunday. Personally I think Chad is having a PB season and Im very happy he is our Qb.

This season could have been much worse and he is one of the reasons why we are able to put wins out there. Throwing over 300 yards and 3 td's on a New England defense is not the easiest task in the world.

Chad Pennington has great accuracy. With that said, no matter where the defender is you can't defend a great pass. A defender can't intercept or knock a ball away that is not within their reach. Which is the type of QB he is. The guy just flat out makes great throws and manages the game and I couldn't ask for anything more out of the guy. I really don't care how much any one talks this guy down he is having a great year and I hope he makes the pro bowl.

All I can say is "wow."

This post confirms what many are saying...that some folks will stop at nothing to avoid from admitting that they were off base and that Pennington might possibly be a good NFL quarterback after all.

Last I checked, Henning isn't responsible for accuracy and/or consistency.

I'm glad Pennington is here due to the fact that Henne gets to pick his brain throughout the time. By no means is Pennington a championship caliber QB though. He can't make all the throws. The Miami coaching staff is doing a fantastic job catering to his strengths... which is... avoid gunslinging situations and control the flow of the game with the run game (attempt to).

It's no mystery that Miami's last 2 games prior to NE were nail biters and Miami attempted to sling the ball around like Pennington was Manning.

Penningtons success is in large part due to the offensive coordinator. IMO.
