As we all know, the NYJs have a 1 game lead on us. However, they play @ Tennessee this week, and if we win vs. NE, then we will be tied. That would put our Week 17 game with them as a BIG playoff birth/seeding. Thoughts?

I saw this on NFL.com's live chat with Brian Baldinger:

Hey Brian, I'm a huge Jets fan and I personally think we're looking pretty good, especially after that huge win up in Foxboro. I just wanted to know what your thoughts are on us, and how do you think we will be this weekend going up against the undefeated Titans? Thanks for your time Brian and keep up the good work.
P.S. Playbook is the greatest show NFL Network has to offer and I love watching your input every week.

I see them losing.

AND i think they have a good chance to lose back to back games to the titans AND denver

im as hopeful as the next finfan, but lets stop talking about the playoffs and just enjoy each and every week these dolphins are giving us. No matter what happens from here on out this season these players play harder than any team in recent memory (miami speaking). So lets not get pushy and lets all just enjoy the thought of where we were one year ago to now.

This got me thinking, do you not want people to talk about the playoffs because you are afraid they will be heart broken if they dont go? or maybe you will be hearbroken? or that it will jinx them?

Im not getting on your case I am just trying to get a little peak at the logic people use when they tell someone else not to think about something.

To be honest i think this IS the time to dream about it (its been so long)
the schedule is favorable for it to happen.
the division is wide open.
and we spent all of last year thinking we are 5 years away from looking respectable.

what we think, or say has no bearing on how the team will play so i say

the logic is simple, this time last year we were measuring up who would be the first pick. 4 months ago we were talking about a top 10 pick. Now we are talking about playoffs. My logic is to stop looking ahead at EVERYTHING and just appreciate that its football season. It would be great if we got into the playoffs, but we are about 100 times better right now than we were last year and we are heading in the right direction. Just bask in that instead of ALWAYS having to look into the future for something ENJOY RIGHT NOW

ok heres the thing, trust me when i say this- while all these fans are talking about playoffs i promise you, without a shadow of a doubt they are enjoying RIGHT NOW. In fact if you poll everyone that is talking playoffs and ask them- do you enjoy football right now- I believe you will not find one that says they are not.

Actually if you really think about it- if we were NOT thinking about playoffs we would NOT be enjoying football as much- thats a given. It has been a while since I was in school but isnt that kind of like an oxymoron?

thats kind of the reason why I was asking why you wanted people to STOP thinking about football which to me means STOP enjoying football as much. So even with your explaination i am still a bit confused

Problem is... with our ST (the worst by far on the league) and a very young team, I doubt we will be on a close race with the Jerks, they have a very easy schedule and are playing better than us as of now, but, that being said, if we survive the next three with a win we should be on the hunt for the #1 spot on the AFC east!!!!! I am against of talking playoffs, because we are not playing solid football, we are OK, actually much better than what almost anyone could imagine we would be, but ... we still have to beat at least the Patriots on next week, and then win three on the road, until then ...... no playoffs talk!!!!!

Did anyone else notice Brian Baldinger's short-and-concise smack down of the Jets fan question: "I see them losing". Right after the Jets fan gets done talkin' him up.

I agree. Well, mostly. I don't assume someone who takes things "one game a ta time" enjoys the games any less then someone with playoff hopes either.
