In thinking about the draft, its looking like the Phins just need to bite the bullet. I think it would be a fantastic, yet unspectacular draft to get 2 o-linemen in the draft. Im looking at Levi Brown in the first, and a guy like Grubbs, Blaylock or Sears in the second. This would give the Phins a solid left side of the line for years to come. Remember Webb and Sims? OR how bout Walter Jones and Hutch. Or even Ferguson and Mangold last year for the Jets. This would be vital to the offense in both the run and pass game. Sure they wouldn't make headlines, but I dont know how to use these picks that wouldnt give us an immediate return that this would. Although our skilled position players havent been playing up to par, they do have decent talent. If the o-line starts knocking some head off, like they certainly have not been doing for the past 5 years, then I think we will see a dramatic rise in production out of the skill positions. It all starts up front.

(if you want to see how I got the draft shaping up, here it is.

I'd bet a solid interior linemen falls to the early part of round 2)

How about:

1) Levi Brown

2) Best WR available (of the following: Bowe, Meachem, Rice)
or C Ryan Kalil or TE Greg Olsen.

3) C Kyle Young if Kalil not taken.

4th C Dan Mozes if neither Kalil nor Young are taken by this point.

Kyle Young didn't even get invited to the combine. Expect his stock to freefall to the second day.

So I would like to hear some of your opinions on Doug Free, the tackle out of Northern Illinois

. He's a little light and had the foot injury, which has dropped his stock a bit. Right now he's getting no press, likely second round guys like Staley, Ugoh and Harris are getting more attention, so maybe he slips to the third.

Im not big on Free, because of his size. In the Phins zone blocking scheme an emphasis is on size. Plus, we already have a guy in the image of Free in Anthony Alabi. Good feet, good pass blocker. I dont think there would be room on the roster for drafting Free.

I have a feeling all of those guys except Olsen will be gone before we pick next. Maybe Meachem or Rice but I wouldn't bank on it. Not sure if Kyle Young is even a 3rd and Mozes had a horrible senior bowl. Id take care of the o-line in 1 and 2, and use my later pick on the positions that have depth like DE/OLB, DT, WR, S. After the upper echelon of o-lineman, it looks like the rest are gonna have a tough time fight for backup spots.

Check out the draft in my sig....thats what I want to happen.

Id be thrilled with the first 2. Although Kalil is on the small side and not an ideal fit for the zone blocking scheme, I wouldn't care; he's a football player.

Not sure about the 3 and 4 though.

Kalil is not all that small. He could easily be Mangold's size.

Well none of them are small. But Kalil is listed @ 285, which would be small for a Non-Denver Bronco o-lineman.

He's 292-293 right now. He could easily grow to 296-297 which is perfectly fine.

i'd hate for us not to draft an OLB to compete with/replace spragan as a starter, probably should have to do that before the 5th round at least
